For this podcast, I decided to explore my different facets as an artist. Through sound, I explore all the Paradoxes we face in our lives: throughout the whole 3 hours, 33 minutes and 33 seconds journey, I contrast darkness with lightness, emotions with energy. The podcast starts with softer dance music that I truly enjoy but don’t have the opportunity to play most of the time. The energy levels then gradually increase, reaching the sound I play in peak time, until we finally reach an emotional ending. There are many unreleased (and some unfinished) tracks of mine in this podcast--some for
the dancefloor, some to enjoy on a sunset drive. Some of these songs will come out this year and others in 2023. Can you spot them?

Korean-Canadian producer Hyunji-A recently debuted on TOR with a prolific pairing, showcasing her knack for enticing & emotive grooves. Dee Montero is a lifer. He’s the former Mambo Ibiza resident who at the end of 2017 received Pete Tong’s Essential Tune Of The Year on BBC Radio One for the string-fuelled, epic end-of-nighter ‘Halcyon’, originally released on Solomun’s acclaimed Diynamic imprint. And he’s been busy ever since with various eps including ‘Pangaea’ and ‘Azure’ on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound, ‘Shadows’ on All Day I Dream with Newman, and also the scintillating ‘In The Wild’ and ‘Headspace’ featuring Meliha on Anjunadeep. From Asia to America and everywhere in between it’s all been about the music for Dee. Performances in Australia, India and Dubai have been interspersed with US tours and appearances at Burning Man on the Robot Heart and Carl Cox’s Playground stages as well as summer shows in Ibiza including Hï with Joris Voorn and Nic Fanciulli. In 2020 Dee launched his own imprint Futurescope bringing in fellow musical alchemists Patrice Baumel, Fort Romeau, Lauer and Newman for remix duties. The next step will be an artist album released this coming summer, which play to those deft melodic touches, twinkling synths and positive peaks. There’s also a perfectly timed release called ‘Maya’ doing the rounds right now, and a remix from Rodriguez Jr which aims for even bigger, higher heights. As well as forthcoming eps on Renaissance and Anjunadeep later this year Dee’s next serene new release ‘Farlight’ will continue the upward electronic pressure into summer 2022. These are exciting times for an artist with Dee’s attention to detail and there are so many sonic terrains still left to discover…

Langsam schiebt er sich den Strohhut aus dem Gesicht und blinzelt der lachenden Sonne entgegen. Am Baum sitzend sinniert er über die einfachen Dinge. Der kurze Mittagsschlaf hat seine Sinne belebt. Das Plätschern des nahen Flusses hört er kristallklar und die spärlichen Wolken verfolgt er aufmerksam. Hinter jeden der weißen Riesen entdeckt er eine andere Phantasie. Dort wird eine Katze von einem Piraten gestreichelt und da erbeutet ein Eichhörnchen ein Eis als Nachtisch. Er verliert sich in den friedlichen Parallelwelten und lässt sich nochmal fallen. Mehr liegend als sitzend schließt er die Augen und malt mit seiner Vorstellungskraft farbenfrohe Kulissen für den Piraten, die Katze und das Eichhörnchen. Seine erfundenen Abenteuer zaubern ihn ein Lächeln ins Gesicht. 

Lasst euch von der Kreation unseres heutigen Gastes verzaubern und genießt die ersten Sonnenstrahlen. Der Labelchef von Steyoyoke steuert den passenden Mix dazu bei!

All smiles and goosebumps when I look back at my debut at Thuishaven for Melody Garden. It was amazing to see everyone dancing indoors at the famous ‘loods’, even while the sun was shining bright outside. Rave vibes all around and that’s why this set is also a bit more upbeat than I usually tend to play.

My sincere gratitude goes to the Mystic Garden team for inviting me, and to everyone who went on that journey with me.
