Humpblack was born a Leo in 1985 in Hartford ct. as a child he was always surrounded by music, be it his mothers Motown soundtracks when cleaning the house, the reggae/dancehall at his fathers side family bashments, the grunge and alternative influences of education in the suburbs to growing up in the inner city with his 2 older sisters during the yo mtv rap era. Though he could remember music since the Beginning of his life, it was when he heard “if I ruled the world” By Nas and Lauryn Hill that he realized that music had a message and hip-hop was more than just words. Growing up durin the height of the east west feud, he was partial to the home side, listening to Biggie, Nas, mob deep LOX, and his greatest influence Jay-z. in 1997 he moved to Raleigh North Carolina where he was introduced by his cousins to such music is OutKast, cash money, no limit Pastor Troy and trick daddy. It was growing up in the south that he attached the music he was listening to, to the everyday life he was living. In 2001 he move back to Connecticut where he got the grow up in the G-Unit, Dipset era enjoying the production aspect of music and the education of the hustle. in 2003 he went back Raleigh where he entered a black college to college dropout, partied to snap music and trapped to trapp music. during this time, humpblack always being a poet, decided to start writing rhymes as a hobby with a group of his cousins under the banner of their squad “Black Prez”. 2008 he dropped out of college and moved back to Hartford to catch the Wave of max b and French Montana. still writing, it was in his sisters basement that he started recording on a used laptop with a trial recording program and thin used microphone like bob barker used on price is right...

Today, A professional firefighter, humpblack still finds time for his first love, writing and recording in his spare time Using the same minimal equipment as day one, editing and mixing on his own (obviously). a hip hop purest, it’s his belief that though rap has become a global phenomenon, the true essence of hip hop is being foreshadowed by the aspects of capitalism. He enjoys seeing the success of the young people, and applaud there elevation of the culture, yet he misses the art of lyricism and the craft of making a motherfucker think about what was said in EVERY BAR. So he continues to make music not only for himself, but like minded people who truly miss a lyricist destroying a ill beat. He hopes you enjoy his craft and continue to support his art. But honestly it doesn’t matter if u do… he’s been doing it, and will keep doing it… “Ye”
