"Somewhere" in Amsterdam" is a sundays party, happens about once or twice a year in a small and intimate setting, starting 5pm, with food, friends and an overdosing love for music.

The rugged square-wave bass stabs and crunchy distorted drums then generate a more peak-time, dance floor focused feel with this one.

This is raw, heavily swung, funky and playful house music. “Utensils” is aimed straight at the dance-floor…Over top of dark gritty rolling grooves, Pablo layers frenetic vocal snippets, cheeky jazzy chord stabs, and warm resonant synth melodies. The release is "tape saturated, swung-out house music; hints of the old and new.”

Project Pablo is the latest moniker of Patrick Holland (formerly 8prn). Over the last couple of years the young producer has been making some waves within the West Coast underground electronic scene, producing a slew of remixes, and curating mixes for i-D Magazine, Do Androids Dance, and the Slowcast. He also runs the label ASL Singles Club in collaboration with Heartbeat(s) and Chef. The label was recently featured on Thump and XLR8R. Project Pablo’s own production is diverse, moving between a more experimental/ambient sound to classic Chicago House. He recently played SXSW in collaboration with installation artist Charles Long, and will playing a number of festivals throughout the summer; Sled Island, Bass Coast and Shambhala.

Bicoastal disco aficionado, Super Elevation label/shop owner, and all-around legend of the scene, Tom Noble brings forth a sprawling project 15 years in the making with his House of Spirits full length LP on Razor-N-Tape.

Slow-cooked over more than a decade, the eight tracks that stretch across this double 12” pack are the realization of Tom’s unique vision of modern dancefloor soul, with lush live instrumentation and deviously catchy hooks. Boasting a near encyclopedic knowledge of decades of club music, Tom draws on influences like Patrick Adams & the Mizell Brothers to build a sound that’s both reverent to the past, but feels extremely fresh and immediately timeless.

The lead off singles ‘Times Are Changing’ and ‘Please Take Me There’ and respective remixes by Harvey Sutherland, Makez and Sizmo have already garnered huge support, and ‘Holding On’ the beloved original House Of Spirits single from 2020 appears with a shiny new mix. Introducing Kon‘s forthcoming compilation album ‘Kon & The Gang‘, we are delighted to present this 12″ sampler featuring two incredible cuts taken from the LP, as well as an exclusive remix from Kon

Opening track ‘Timeless’ could hardly be more aptly named. Sublime, smokey piano touches on the intro give way to an uplifting, languid disco track, jammed full of sunshine. Catchy vocal snippets, rock solid bass and guitar licks build up the groove beautifully alongside Kon‘s trademark staccato, squelchy synth chord stabs. On the flip-side Kon presents a remix of his own track ‘Timeless’. Highlighting piano loops and synth stabs from the original version, his rework moves the track seamlessly into Deep House territory, with smoothly rolling percussion and a hypnotic arrangement.

Truccy (better known as Compost’s Rainer Trüby and Corrado Bucci) close out proceedings with ‘Closer’, another sun-drenched groove with definite Balearic touches. Jazzy chords and touching vocals (performed by the duo themselves with assistance from Nicolas “Michael Ellis” Rogoll) lend the track a distinctly ‘live’ feel.

A delicious taste of what’s to come from ‘Kon & Gang<‘, this limited 12″ is surely going to be essential listening this summer.

In case you didn't know, April 21st marks this year's worldwide Record Store Day. On the 3rd Saturday in April every year, record stores across the globe unveil special releases, cut prices, and host in-store performances all in the name of WAX. For this year’s RSD, New York City powerhouse Razor-N-Tape has something special in store. The Férias ’77 Reworks from label co-head JKriv, a longtime lover of Brazilian sounds, is an 8 song double 12” compiling reworks he’s created over nearly a decade, drawing from some of his most revered and respected sources.

“Rainha Do Mar” is a laid-back tropical funk cut oozing in that standard Brazilian swag. Smooth as hell vocals accompany funky synth and guitar lines that will likely soundtrack many summer days this year. For me, Brazilian music defines happiness and relaxation. It’s simply not possible to feel anything but amazing listening to it. “Rainha Do Mar” is a near perfect edit. It stands on its own while giving plenty of breathing room to the original track.

In total, this release sets a high bar; 45 minutes of exceptional music and a true masterclass for anyone dedicated to making edits. With beautifully vibrant artwork practically jumping off the sleeve, a free download card, and a cheeky sticker pack included, this one is an absolute RSD essential!
