Luminous began life as a Covid lockdown project. Hungry Man and Jonathan first met in 2007 when they performed together in 'Amorphous Androgynous: A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble'. This was the live project of Future Sound of London's Garry Cobain. This took them to Russia, The Ukraine

in 2019 Hungry Man sent Jonathan some beats to play over and Jonathan recorded his sitar parts and sent them back. Luminous is their first collaboration together.

Jonathan is a renowned sitar player and composer and co-founder of 'First Hand Records'. He has performed across the world and has performed several times for the BBC in the UK.

I'm really into the Latin Electronica that has been coming fwd...Cumbia is bouncey and fun, originally from Colombia, with Crunk Cumbia adding a Hiphop vibe. Moombahton is chilled and funky, being a combination of Dutch House and Reggaeton. Moombahcore is edgier and filthier. Tribal Guarachero, Prehispanik drums and 3ball are the Mexican versions of Electro. Gonna be playing a lot of these styles this summer. Luminous was written and produced by Hungry Man aka Hagop Heath-Matossian, in Cosmic Studio, Dorset, with original sitar written and performed by Jonathan Mayer, a renowned sitar player, composer and co-founder of 'First Hand Records'. He has collaborated with Oasis and Paul Weller amongst many others and has performed across the world. 

Hungry Man and Jonathan first met in 2007 when performing alongside Future Sound of London's Garry Cobain in ‘Amorphous Androgynous.’ This took them to Russia, Ukraine, Ireland and numerous UK festivals.


Luminous began life as a Covid lockdown project. Hungry Man had always wanted to collaborate with Jonathan having become a huge fan of his playing style in their days performing together. In 2019 Hungry Man sent Jonathan some drums and bass instrumentals  to play over and Jonathan recorded his sitar parts in his studio in Waltham Abbey and sent them back. Luminous is their first collaboration. Hungry Man is excited to combine a bespoke traditional sitar performance with bassline-style electronic beats, aiming for high energy sweltering sunshine vibes!


The EP includes a twinkly uplifting house remix from Riley Love, a San Francisco based DJ and producer who is a Burning Man regular. Essex based Rokolai’s remix is a full length electro-house epic, inspired by the music of Sebastian Leger. Hungry Man expanded on the swung rhythms from the rave mix to create a UK Garage remix. Jonathan’s original solo sitar performance is included in all its purity. Hungry Man also created three DJ Tools to enable DJs to use the material freely in their own live mixes and bootlegs.


Hungry Man is inspired by producers like Shosh, Sammy Virji, Vorso, Tipper, Rusko, My Nu Leng and Joyryde. He wanted a release that covered the ground between Bassline, Bass-House, House and UK Garage, genres that he knows well that bring the heat to the dancefloor.

This mix has emerged from a collection of tunes that all share a vibe, an inkling of an idea to collate shamanic celestial music that yearns to uplift the spirit and open the doors to a trance dance boogie.

The first hour or so is a mellow rise that rolls into organic pitch-black grooves to shake the cosmos. 

The past life spirit of this set sits deep in the Lost Woods of Abbots Ripton, a site once pilgrimaged annually for the Secret Garden Party, Rest in Power. Its future life is a pyramid shaped festival stage and light installation celebrating shamanic music and inner growth.

Buy Now Pay Later was inspired by the current environmental crisis in which we continue to overstretch our finite resources at an alarming rate. By committing ecocide we are buying now and paying later when it will be too late to restore balance to life on Earth. The tune is a slice of bass-weight rinse out madness and embodies the critical mass of the Extinction Rebellion movement and how it captured the ethical hearts and minds of the UK and the World. Hungry Man has long been an environmental activist works in sustainable construction. He wanted to write music around this feeling without preaching or complaining.

Career highlights include playing various shows alongside Grandmaster Flash, Stanton Warriors, David Rodigan MBE, Kode9, Rahzel, Soul Jazz and a winter season as resident DJ for infamous Apres-ski club “The Farm” in Verbier Switzerland. Raised on carnival sound system culture and pirate radio, Hungry Man LOVES bass music. His energetic set of original productions and remixes takes in Bassline, EDM, Drum’n’bass, & Dub Reggae.

A veteran of the UK’s festival and party scene, he has rocked music events worldwide from London bass raves to Alpine snowboard contests and Rasputin’s St.Petersburg Palace.
