what if i never make it out of this place? 
i’ll be stuck here forever with the same faces

and all of the friends i have will sit around and talk 
about the parties we had when we were young

well i’ve been great if great’s a relative term
i’ve been sleep deprived but eventually i learned
that school's a lot more important than

a college kid jammed in the cycle of mourning
but it will get better
because he just got paid and now he has all this money to purchase his

a three-legged horse 
in the derby with no bets
a kid in his room 
with a pen as his outlet

i know that i sound pathetic
and i know that i’m a bit dramatic but 
my life changed this a lot year
and everything stayed the same around here
no one’s been making progress
so i’ll do my best to sleep until august
because when i sleep i don’t feel alone
nothing’s ever going to change at home

some days i just can’t wait
some days i need a break

i don’t know what else to say
as much as i love this place 
i hold some disdain
i really wish things weren’t so grey
i guess i will proceed to leave
and fade
