This piece is very special to me. It is based on something we are all familiar with: bullying. Either we were that bully, knew, enabled or spoke against them.

It would be hard to believe that anyone was an angel in grade school. I wasn't the nicest in elementary school -- still working on it. I was honestly kind of a snob. Intellectual bullying is as bad as - if not worse than - physical bullying. I was the prior. I didn't bother with the fist fights. I was coming for your mind. Suspension/expulsion was for the birds. Plus my mom worked at the school. I, like many, was bullied in school.

My fondest memory of elementary school was interacting with a girl named Rebecca. She transferred there. She was the sweetest. She was severely bullied. Kids were horrible. They'd spread nasty rumors about her sexuality. She was in 8th grade.
One day after school, I saw her in the hallway. She stood against the wall with a pack of vanilla creme cookies. Kids always beg. She gave me one. I was starving, and she gave me one of her cookies, and it made my day. That was my last personal memory of her. The next time I heard about her, I was in high school -- finishing up. She killed herself. I don't know how. But I remember grade school.

I miss her. I don't even know her last name, but I remember and honor her spirit.
