BLTRSX began life as a split EP containing four tried and tested favourites. Adapting to these new times, we've also included a track from all the different artists who are due to release on the label over the course of the year and it's very pleasing to hear them getting on alongside each other.

The DJs Pareja remix is something a few of you might have heard already, it's been a big record around these parts for most of the past year - big with Dixon too - and has now been properly mastered with very pleasing results.

Same for the Lipelis remix which is taken from a collection of his remixes and was recently given the DJ Harvey seal of approval.

"The Bump" is an old favourite going back to the early Cómeme days, that hasn't seen the light of day.. until now.

nICo and Qash are a Milan based couple who we've recently became acquainted with and really in love with their music.

Moonilena made one of our favourite mixes of the year for our Rinse FM show and it turns out some of the music featured was her own unreleased stuff, so..

XYZ is brought to you in association with Concret and the seriously good Trafico label out of Mexico City, watch out for a label sampler of their own at some point.

We had the pleasure of meeting Andy Garvey in Sydney recently and really happy to include one of her solid productions.  

Parisian SLVN is one to watch, just til you hear 'Another Antidote'. Exciting!

Closer to home, Pseudopolis appeared on a recent Clyde Built compilation of Glasgow based artists and we've been playing loads of his stuff for a while, this being a particular favourite.


We're happy to make some connections between some of these special people and hope you'll enjoy spending this hour with them too.

Continuing the trend of spotting new talent, promoters Huntleys + Palmers is back in business with a big release from the talented Londoner, DrumTalk. @drumtalk

Like his label counterparts, Auntie Flo, SOPHIE and Alejandro Paz, ‘Time’ is a track set to be popular across the board. The results from our limited focus group have been resoundingly positive;: James Holden played it TWICE in his recent Panorama Bar set and Jackmaster featured it on both his Boiler Room and Mastermix. Not a bad start!

Andrew Thomson has spent the past 15 years championing emerging electronic music talent through Huntleys + Palmers. He's introduced many artists to Glasgow and the UK for the first time, including Helena Hauff, Lena Willikens, and SOPHIE. From poorly attended events to sell-outs, his commitment to adventurous, forward-thinking line-ups has made a significant impact on the electronic music scene.

Andrew’s dedication extends globally, with DJ tours across Latin & North America, Asia, Australia, and India. He’s played at iconic venues like London’s Plastic People and Dusseldorf’s Salon des Amateurs, and made appearances at Tbilisi's Bassiani. His travels have been documented on his curated show on Rinse FM, showcasing unsung heroes and upfront music.

In 2020, Andrew founded Clyde Built Radio in Glasgow to provide a platform for local talent and foster a cultural space for the music and arts community. His efforts continue to shape and influence the electronic music landscape today.

Very quickly after releasing the first Clyde Built compilation, we knew we had to do another one; the response from the artists involved and thousands who checked out the comp itself was so encouraging that we couldn't wait to do it again!

This time around we set out to replicate the high quality and diverse range of music with an entirely different cast of contributing artists and projects and we’re very excited to share the results with you.

Much like James Holden and Optimo, Ivan Smagghe is one of the most influential figures behind the founding and continuation of H+P over the past decade.

As such, it is tremendously exciting to release something by his new Smagghe & Cross project. In collaboration with the film composer and programmer, Rupert Cross - who counts big Hollywood blockbusters and Kanye West on his impressive resume - Smagghe & Cross has recently been picking up acclaim through superb releases on Vladimir's Offen Music, Ransom Note and their remix of The Junto Club has been a staple round these parts. Not only that, but the record also features none other than the bold Matthew Herbert (!!!) doing his best Robert Wyatt impression.
Additionally, as a very big fan of the compelling Honey Soundsystem 'Generator' series, I'm really chuffed to have commissioned a special remix featuring Jackie House with Kevin Clarke performing words by DJ Marke B. Swedish Superstars, Samo DJ & Pedrodollar also turn in a trippy groover AND as the icing on the cake; have enlisted the services of the DJ who played the first ever H+P party back in 2007, Pilooski- completing another circle during the 10th anniversary year..

Highlife throws a curveball for it’s next release with a piece of Kwaito from
South Africa’s DJ Call Me.

A track sweeter than Irn Bru, we first stumbled across ‘Marry Me’ on the
radio by the New York DJ, Sadaf. After a quick search, we found it on
YouTube with over a million views, only to discover it had been “track of the
summer(s)” back in South Africa at the start of the decade. Almost a
‘Searching for Sugarman’ moment… The track wasn’t available to buy in
any kind of format, and so began an elaborate quest to track down the
artist via his defunct Facebook page. After many an unanswered email and
a couple of years persistence, we finally managed to track down a
manager still in touch with DJ Call Me, and we’re now involved in some
regular Whatsapp exchanges with the man himself.

After showing it to a select group of DJ pals, it began to show up on the ID
of music Facebook group, courtesy of plays by the likes of Hunee, Axel Boman & Kornél Kovács. Last summer, Auntie Flo and Andrew played at a
wedding in Beirut and this track got such a massive reaction that we’ve
been dying to share it with you ever since. DJ Call Me’s ‘Marry Me’ is out
via Highlife on Fri, 20th April 2018.

Over the past 6 months I’ve travelled to some of the worlds biggest cities and with the greatest respect, nowhere beats the scene in Glasgow in terms of the diverse creativity happening. 

The Clyde Built compilations have documented this year after year and it's a great pleasure to work on them. Previous artists range from Cucina Povera to Hammer, Big Miz to Still House Plants, LAPS, Lo Kindre and loads more. Not to mention the many one off's and incredible projects that have formed and dissipated over the years - another exciting aspect which characterises the immediacy of the scene. 

Despite being twice the size of any of its previous successors, this year’s cast of tomorrow’s talent is no different - owing a lot to many random encounters and the community spirit as a whole for it coming together in the way it did. Life is the most effective algorithm. 

Scene stalwarts rub shoulders with the freshest of faces - turning in a solid cross section of contemporary hip hop, alongside pop edits, ambient, free jazz and plenty of cutting edge 4/4 bangers in all shapes and sizes - including political anthem of our time, MULK! Rest assured, it won’t be the last you’ll hear of this lot. 

As always, the compilation was mastered by LANDR and is available for FREE download. 

To mark the occasion, we're teaming up with the Healthy crew and hosting a party at Civic House on the 15th June with a variety of the Clyde Built contributors past and present. Check RA / FB for more..
