Sabo’s record label Sol Selectas drops an enchanting Afro house EP by ARKADYAN, which also features remixes by Safar (FR) and Manoo.

ARKADYAN are a talented trio who have previously featured their tribal rhythms and ancestral instruments on other imprints ranging from Cosmic Awakenings to Madorasindahouse Records, and their music has been popular with DJs such as Black Coffee, Bedouin, Satori, Blond:ish and many others of equal note.

Safar (FR) is a French artist who recently debuted on Sol Selectas with a track on the label’s Summer Sol VII compilation with a scorching hot vibe, and this remix once again shows off his talents.

Manoo is from the city of Lyon in France and he is well-known for his productions on Innervisions, Compost and Classic Music Company. His style is a jazzy blend with deep atmosphere and groovy basslines.

“Tulila” is the solo original on the release and it features the vocals of Moroccan artist Radouan Naim who also played the guembri instrument that’s used in the track. The lyrics are sung in the Berber language and are accompanied by tense pads, vibrant percussion and dramatic chords.

Safar (FR) provides a refined remix that’s true to the original with its chopped-up vocals and flowing tribal rhythms that are both crisp and hypnotic.

Closing out the release is the remix by Manoo that adds a new bassline with extra energy while also drawing attention to the percussion to focus on the tribal rhythms of the congas and other percussion.

The artwork by Helia Jamali depicts the golden spiral of life & the harmonic dance of the universe.

With a penchant for strong groovy base and melodies with "a nice bit of tension", Arkadyan and Demayä set about work on their collaborative E.P. Esperanza: “In an early mix of the title track, we used a sample of Manu Chao’s voice, saying ‘esperanza, esperanza’, but a chance encounter in Dubai with mezzo soprano vocalist Yana Mann changed the course of the E.P. Inspired by the trumpet melody and the beat, Yana Mann came up with a vocal line and the result was a one-shot success. One enlightening taxi ride with Jean Claude Ades later and things started falling into place. The result is a miniature collection of “octopus rhythms”, with organic percussion and electronic beats jostling for attention with a plethora of live instruments and on-the-road pocket-mic field recordings.

Tayllor is a Greek-born artist who fuses traditional instruments with vibrant house sounds. He is a hotly tipped talent set to break through in 2023 after top Beatport hits and support from the likes of Black Coffee and Bedouin. Songwriter, percussionist and vocalist G. Zamora is an Afro house mainstay and label regular who has a rich musical background that always shines through in his work.

This time the pair create a serious, energetic and deep track with engaging melodies and powerful, organic percussion. G.Zamora's voice tells a story of love and does so with real emotion. It speaks of a trapped soul begging for a second chance and makes for a moving moment on the dance floor.

This is a fresh and characterful tune from this ever-innovative pair.
