NEN Records presents an album by Paul Begge, also known by Forgttn and Blind Assault projects. In spite of the devilish productivity of the Moscow musician, 'Resist the System' is a first large format for Begge, a kind of summing up for a life chapter. Eleven tracks are brought together by the concept of ‘resistance to the system’, and there is no doubt it's not a fluffy bunny who is unleashed, but someone completely hell-bent. So Begge's short-circuiting and neurotic techno declares a total war and claims to possess the audience 'systematically', with lock, stock and barrel. And like all resistance in a psychoanalytic sense of thе word, it is a story about something repressed and forgotten - that you are able neither think nor speak of. Hence the effect: 'Resist the System' leaves the listener anxiously fucked up, but invigorated as after a good whip session.

Несмотря на дьявольскую продуктивность московского музыканта, ‘Resist the System’ – это первый крупный формат Бегге, своеобразное подведение итогов и расставление точек над «и». Одиннадцать треков тематически объединены «сопротивлением системе», и нет никаких сомнений, что против системы валит не пушистый зайчик, а тот еще одержимый. Перемыкая контакты, обессивное техно Бегге декларирует тотальную войну, претендует распоряжаться слушателем "систематически" – со всеми потрохами. И как всякое сопротивление в психоаналитическом смысле, это история про вытесненное и забытое – про то, о чем не хочется (не можется) ни думать, ни говорить. Отсюда эффект: 'Resist the System' оставляет ощущение тревожной взъебанности, но вместе с тем бодрит, как порция розг.

Have you ever heard the word “Haligonian”? How about “Donair”?

Well, believe it or not, a ‘Haligonian’ is a person born in Halifax, Nova Scotia aka the birthplace of Botnek and also the birthplace of your new future faves - @itscloverdale.  

“Octane” is the duo’s first release on WFHQ and it really, really rocks.  It’s got a big room techno vibe, that makes us think of Boys Noize Records, with a bit of the Chemical Brothers, and also that scene in Blade where it rains blood and it’s a rave and that was the first time I ever saw a club in a movie and I was like “wow dance music makes me really really afraid I hope to never be in a club also I’m like, 11 years old wow”

Anyhow! YES.  It’s a big ol stinker.  We love it a lot a lot a lot.  It’s super musical, but also just straight to the point, packing - not one - but two servings of your classic “wallop”.  We hope you dig it as much as us, and like always, if not, that’s fine too!

PS - Oh, and a “donair” is a disgusting fake meat late night tummy time bomb that’s local to Halifax.  It’s kind of like a shawarma, but if the meat came from raccoons.
