그제 밤 소울트레인에 나와 돈코넬리우스와 인터뷰하는 마이클잭슨이 학창시절을 설명하는 모습을 보면서 뜬금없이 세월호에서 빠져 나오지 못한 단원고 학생들이 떠올랐다.
꿈 많았을 그 친구들은 차디찬 물 속에서 그 꿈을 져버려야했다. 그 친구들도 정말 멋진 사람이 되거나 혹은 마이클 같은 사람도 될 수 있었을 텐데... 자기만 생각하는 이기적인 우리나라 어른들이 그 꿈들을 다 앗아간거 같다는 생각이 들었다. 거의 한달간 세월호 소식을 접하면서 지치기도 많이 지쳤지만 요즘에 다시 환생한것 같은 마이클 형과 같이 단원고 학생들도 오래오래 기억되었으면 좋겠다. 분위기에 안맞는 디스코겠지만 그 곳에선 공포에 떨지 말고 자유롭게 살라고 말하고 싶어서 되도록 밝은 노래들로 믹스셋을 만들어 보았다. 슬픈 소식에 지친이들에게도 작은 위안이 되었으면 좋겠다.
