Another track made deep during lockdown.  Rhode is a vocalist we've been aware of for some time, and the gorgeous fragility of her vocal just hit us in an extremely powerful way.  The second she laid the first demo on this track, we just knew.  

Haunting, intimate, but expressing all three of our souls at the time of lockdown.   A time when none of us knew what was going on, how things were going to pan out and just what it all meant for us all.  Even thinking back to it now, it was possibly the strangest time any of us have lived through.

This one we've been dying for you all to hear.

Hybrid Minds are on a roll right now. Even while gearing up for their much-anticipated four-week residency at Phonox in London with their Outline brand, a summer of festivals and coming straight off the back of a full-scale UK tour, they've found time to bless us with a brand new slice of liquid beauty.

This is  'Jetstream'.

Of course, one of Hybrid Minds' key powers is their unerring ability to select amazing talents to work with. This time, it's Thomas Oliver – who the D&B-faithful know from link-ups with the likes of Logistics and Bcee – that steps up for a soul-scorching performance. As co-writer of the track as well as providing vocals and guitar for Hybrid Minds to work their studio science make this a true artistic collaboration.

The low-fi ambiance in the intro provides a counterpoint to Thomas's Motown-flavoured melodies, with subtle touches of guitar following along behind. We're drawn inexorably towards a drop which is made of pure, joyful, sunlight. The hopeful, uplifting lyrics are given force and power by precision-tooled, rolling drums and pulsing bass tones while harmonic strings dance across the top.

This kind of tune is the reason why Hybrid Minds are held in such high regard by fans of soulful drum & bass everywhere. Essential.

They've shown us 'Demons' and they've shown us 'Brighter Days', plus a lot more besides. The creative synergy of Hybrid Minds and Charlotte Haining is well-established by now, and, as the HM guys' popularity continues to rise, this new release is already set to become another fan favourite.

With luscious, enveloping strings and elegantly restrained piano chords setting the tone in the intro, Charlotte Haining's instantly-recognisable voice takes the lead. It's a defining characteristic of Hybrid Minds' work that they give ultimate respect to their collaborating singers, and, here, it's the power of the vocal that drives the tune onwards.

The fact that these producers can balance the emotional dynamics of Charlotte's performance with the sheer dancefloor energy of weighty low end and rolling drums is a piece of studio alchemy few have mastered. Undoubtedly, that moment when the soaring “higher love” refrain signals the drop will forever be the soundtrack to many beautiful memories of summer 2019.

After their sold-out run at Phonox leading straight into a dizzying schedule of festival bookings, Hybrid Minds are riding a tsunami-proportioned wave right now. Their remix of Tom Walker's 'Just You & I' introduced their brand of emotive rolling soul to a whole new audience earlier this year, and 'Higher Love' is about to swell the ranks of the Hybrid Minds faithful even further.
