1) Helheim - The opening salvo of the EP, Helheim, pulls listeners into a vortex of pulsing basslines, hypnotic percussions, and a haunting vocal motif that builds relentless tension. A perfect set-starter, this track creates an atmosphere where reality feels malleable, echoing HydraTek's mastery of sonic manipulation. 

2) Bifröst - Rugged, industrial, and unapologetically driving, Bifröst is a visceral experience. Its hammering kicks and metallic stabs create an uncompromising energy that evokes the raw intensity of an underground warehouse rave. This track will ignite any dancefloor it touches.

3) Nox Arcana - This track takes a turn into deeper, ethereal territory. Nox Arcana is the EPs emotional core, blending melancholic melodies with evolving textures and crisp, rolling drums. A track that blurs the line between club weapon and introspective anthem, showcasing HydraTek's versatility.

4) The Awakening - Closing the EP is The Awakening, a storm of dystopian techno with spiraling synths and seismic low-end energy. The track captures the feeling of standing at the edge of a cosmic abyss, daring the listener to dive deeper. This is HydraTek at his most uncompromising and adventurous.

Beethoven 'Re-Generated'

In this example I run three instances of Ableton's Wavetable synth in parallel and map them to different velocity ranges so that I can create an evolving soundscape based on how hard or soft I play. 
The interesting fact here is that I can create a different timbre for each note of a chord by giving each of them a separate velocity value.

Morph Filter Neuro Bass

Using a short decay time on a stereo reverb applied to a mono source is a well proved technique to add stereo width and open up a sound without necessarily drowing it into an obvious reverb effect.

In this audio example you'll hear a drum loop as the side-chain source for the bass loop reverb: the first four bars have both the dry bass and the reverb, while the other four bars have just the reverb set in pre-fader so that the pumping effect caused by the drum loop is more obvious.

X Y R O N (Demo By Stephan Scholz)

Studio mix in preparation for my extended opening set at Rocket Club in Milan on the occasion of the VOID x D.P.T.H. label showcase party on 10th October 2024.

I started with a selection of organic ambient techno, moving to more groovy, melanchonic melodic and acid tracks. Then, I played some house-influenced techno tracks before going to a progressive section of my set. Toward the final thirty minutes, I switched to a higher-energy selection of peak-time techno tracks with a common theme of melodic, deep elements, obscure vocals, and a balance between dark and light moods.

Void x D.P.T.H. Studio Mix - HydraTek Opening Set 10/10/24

I prepared this set for an event in a Techno club in Milan, where I've been a resident DJ for more than one year now. This was a warmup set, so I wanted to explore more cinematic stuff in the first half, setting the vibe and a mysterious and dark landscape for people to dive into. In the middle of the set, I played some melancholic, melodic/progressive tracks, a nostalgic call to a couple of my favorite Drumcode past releases. Moving on, I gradually increased the energy, preparing for the peak-time set. Overall, I tried to use harmonic mixing to help glue the tracks as part of a whole narrative.

'HydraTek' is the name that summarizes my artistic vision: 'Hydra' recalls the mythology and is epitomized by an aggressive, distinctive sound that's become my signature in both sound design projects and electronic music productions;

'Tek' is about my continuous research for high-tech and futuristic sonic explorations, trying to push electronic music forward to explore new frontiers.
The different 'heads' of the hydra are a metaphor for my eclecticism.
The two polarities in the name can sometimes be found in a harsh contrast between delicate, emotive melodies and twisted, abrasive basslines.
With a strong influence and passion for modern film soundtracks, I strive to provide a concept and storytelling inside my music, even inside club-oriented tracks.
My sound is dark cinematic techno, in which I like to insert melodic, emotional, deep and a hint of brighter elements.
