an impro on the mangrove is first passed on tape, then reamped micing the internal speaker of the marantz pmd 222 with a sennheiser mkh-416. then the marantz is used again but as a tape echo, with additional spring reverb courtesy doepfer a-199.
all mixed up with the original recording.

this is a test. i used strymon magneto eurorack module as a digital tape workstation to generate in real time a sort of contemporary music piece, with a simple tonal percussion input.
modulating tape speed, heads alignment, tape pause, feedback, reverse and other parameters a generative music machine comes to life...

nessuna modulazione cv, solo variazioni di parametri a mano, in tempo reale. lo scopo del test è esplorare la ricchezza sonora del magneto

in this simple test i play a funk breakbeat loop from the orthogonal devices er-301. magneto ,in echo mode, is hooked to a mixer aux send. no cv modulation, just real time wiggling of many parameters.

another er-301 vs magneto clash!
this time i created about 100 different percussive sounds with analog modules, sampled them on the er-301, mangled them and sequenced them with earthsea app on monome ansible (with grid).
it is then filtered thru the mighty wasp filter to give back some analog character to the samples.
the 301 also adds a very odd patch involving triangle oscillator self synced via a track & hold module and a slew limiter (the melodic\pad part in the background). all thru filtering and convolution, all inside the 301.
magneto is on dub duty! echoes, echoes, ECHOES!
so this is a chemical marriage of analog and digital, my fave way of working to be honest.

Hyena - Manjolin

a sequence from rené driven by tempi and grids is sent to mangrove (filtered by doepfer's wasp). a midi keyboard thru expert sleepers fh-1 is added to the sequencer for transposition, thru 4ms vca matrix.
an aux send goes to magneto, clocked by tempi, tape speed mangled by benjolin's rungler out. tempi shifts the two clocks to be sent to magneto via rené y out. maths triggered by rené controls mangrove's air (internal vca). some complex modulations from maths and benjolin control formant and barrel on mangrove. some clocked random gates from zorlon cannon mk2 control the infinite toggle and the reverse on magneto. that's all. free jazz for cyborgs.

aux send one is on strymon big sky. aux send two is on strymon magneto.
big sky: shimmer mode, halway open tone, shift 1= octave; shift 2=octave + 5th, amount: 3 quarters. some mod.
magneto: heads 3 and 4. some tape age and crinkle. generous repeats.
the return from magneto is sent to the big sky too for added shimmering bliss.
