Simulation (Slow Mix)

Last year Detroit's Octave One released their fifth studio album, Burn it Down, on their own 430 West imprint. It’s an LP that deftly explored their hallmark sound – a combination of fluttering synth stabs that dovetail themselves into patterns over the top of polyrhythmic drum lines – but it represents a little bit more than just a continuation of their sound; as an album Burn It Down does exactly what its title infers, refreshing the currency of the duo’s legacy and representing how far they and the techno scene they subscribe to have developed. 

To follow the album they’ll shortly be releasing a single release of ‘Jazzo/Lose Myself’ and to accompany it they’ve commissioned remixes from two UK producers that they really rate, Paul Woolford and Mat Playford. So ahead of Octave One’s imminent performance at Detroit Love this Saturday night when they’ll be bringing their live set to Room Two, we’ve been given the honour of unveiling Playford’s version of the track which expertly plays on the original's synth work but goes heavy boosting the kick drums creating in a track that's perfectly suited for the wee hours…
