The Erbil born Amsterdam-based artist, Sarkawt Hamad is joining us for Tapes #120. Between the binaries of darker moods and bliss energies, her sound is unmistakable. 

Growing up in the Netherlands, Sarkawt finds inspiration in all sorts of elements; from fascination for rock music, to dream-pop and her roots. Firmly entrenched in the Dutch underground scene, she translates this experience into a melodic flow behind the decks. Diverse in sources, her sets ebb effortlessly between genre - from breaks, to leftfield techno and house, all connected through a contagious energy. Sarkawt creates a space in which euphoria, more pensive states and deep soft noise can coexist.

This recording is an excerpt of my DJ Set played for Habitat Festival at Südpol in March 24. I clearly remember the first signs of springs coming up. the sun made its way through winters cold, so I was moved from the indoor floor to  the open air floor. I hope you enjoy my debut set at Südpol :)

I’ve been preparing this set for a while and have finally found the time to record it. In this episode, I've focused on ethereal and hypnotic vibes, selecting some of my favourite new age records as well as some slow jams from different genres. 
I jump from genre to genre like hopping from rock to rock while crossing a fast-flowing stream. It's perfect for those late nights when you can't sleep.
