The Future Never Arrives

A thin column of wire/paint twists upward, jittering with a pulse that feels neither mechanical nor organic but something in between. Its surface is mottled, dull silver laced with bruises of violet and faint corrosion, as though it remembers storms. The spindle rotates at an irregular pace, emitting a soft chime that fractures into static with each full turn. Around its base, fine threads scatter outward like root systems, stitching into the floor, vanishing into hairline fractures. It’s unclear whether it’s assembling, disassembling, or simply caught in an endless loop of becoming.

It drifts like a signal fractured through static, a pulse of stray frequencies bending through fractured space. It conjures broken beams of light, refracted, splintered, shimmering where order glitches into chaos. There’s something mechanical yet organic about it, like corrupted data trying to reconstruct itself as a sunrise. Edges blur, patterns loop, and within the noise, fleeting moments of clarity burn through, thin rays cutting across an indifferent void. It feels less like an object and more like an event, something momentary, liminal, halfway between appearance and disappearance.
