This tune was one of three contributions to the Sonic Paradox Remix Shorts in 2012, the others being "Above the Storm" (Sky Troops) and "Winterstruck Dawn" (Speed Highway's At Dawn crossed with Ice Cap Zone). This track was also my second attempt at a four-handed piano piece, the first being "Checkered Emerald Path" from the 2011 Sonic Stadium album.

"Havoc Harbor" was put together as a tribute to Sonic Adventure 2, on occasion of its HD rerelease in the digital marketplace last October. I chose to upload it today to honour SEGA composer and Crush 40 guitarist Jun Senoue, who scored most of SA2 along with numerous other Sonic titles, as it is his 43rd birthday.

Sonic Adventure 2 is a game that is very, very close to my heart, as it marked my foray into the Sonic franchise. From the story to the gameplay, from the cinematics to the general atmosphere... this title, while flawed in some aspects, is a masterpiece in my eyes. No other game had such a profound effect on me. 
What really drove the game home for me was the music, with the majority under Jun's name - the soundtrack is absolutely amazing! City Escape, Green Forest, Eternal Engine, freakin' Live & Learn with Johnny Gioeli... how could anyone not fall in love with SA2's music here?

I've admired Senoue as a musician ever since I was a kid. His tunes never fail to put me in a good mood and help me get through my fair share of bad days, he's proven himself to be an excellent composer game after game after game since he got on the series, and he's just an all around fantastic guy. I wish I could meet him and shake his hand and just thank him for everything he's done for the series, buuuuuuut I can't afford a trip to Summer of Sonic in order to make such a thing a reality... yet.

So, happy birthday to a fantastic guitarist and composer, and to one of my childhood heroes, Jun Senoue!

Additional shout-outs to Aptiva of Freen in Green for helping with the song title and mastering and to Elson "Darkspeeds" Wong who requested the Data Select theme from Sonic 3 & Knuckles at one point. The track also contains a riff on Kenichi Tokoi's Asteroid Coaster from Sonic Colours just because!

On a final note, the third edition of the Sonic Stadium Music Album is currently under way - and I've already got a tune ready for it, but I can't show it off just yet...~
