Born from Iranian political refugees, Sina XX’s connection with South West Asia has been a consistent inspiration. In Adjib (Persian for “weird”), Sina XX dives into his roots and invites us into an unexpected journey through South West Asia. Hard grooves, XL basslines and haunting percussion blends seamlessly with century old Persian instruments which have been carefully sound designed by the artist. Packed with 5 killer originals, the EP welcomes a sturdy remix by French techno mastermind and one of Sina XX’s prime support - Francois X, which will be released as a single in 2024. East meets West in a dark, sweaty room where diversity and originality is celebrated.

The overarching theme that unites this compilation is the sense of nostalgia surrounding familial and ancestral connections 🪷🏞️. This theme holds a special resonance for many of us—some who experience it firsthand through their roots and homelands, while others grasp and feel it through the stories passed down to them. We’ve kept this theme open, allowing each artist the freedom to interpret and incorporate it into their music.

At the heart of SAL is our vibrant and supportive community, and this compilation serves to cultivate and share that sense of togetherness 🤲. We’ve brought together artists from backgrounds across East and Southeast Asia, not only calling on close friends and collaborators but also forging new connections with talented individuals.

The result is a beautifully diverse 12-track compilation that reinvents tracks, spanning from the first capsule that launched the label to the joint fundraiser compilations with Ute Records to the recent collaboration with the Berlin-based collective Mala Junta.
