I have been spending a lot of time in my studio making music these last few months but haven't had the time to do any mixing and so decided to curate this mix with some tracks I've been loving recently AND I've also included an un-released track of mine.  You lucky things. 

On that note I'm also super excited to reveal that I have my first ever EP landing on Reckoning Records in October!

I chose the artwork after putting this mix together and I really think it's a reflection on the mind melting journey this mix will take you on.

The Ascending EP features three captivating tracks: “Ascending,” “Mountains,” and “Origins” by the talented @hyperbolicfunction  Each track takes listeners on a progressive house journey, building upon the last to create an immersive and dynamic listening experience.

The title track, “Ascending,” sets the stage with its mesmerizing blend of melodic techno and progressive house. It starts with a hauntingly beautiful melody that gradually builds, layering rich, textured synths and driving basslines. The track’s intricate progression takes listeners on an emotional journey, creating a sense of elevation and anticipation. “Ascending” is the perfect introduction to Hyperbolic Function’s signature sound.

Following the title track, “Mountains” continues the journey with a deeper, more introspective vibe. This track is characterized by its lush, atmospheric soundscapes and hypnotic rhythms. The cascading melodies evoke the grandeur and serenity of towering peaks, while the steady, pulsating beats provide a solid foundation. “Mountains” beautifully captures the essence of progressive house, with its seamless blend of tranquility and intensity.

The final track, “Origins,” rounds out the EP with a powerful and evocative composition. It dives into deeper, darker tones, showcasing Hyperbolic Function’s ability to create mood and atmosphere. The track’s layered synths and dynamic rhythms build a compelling narrative, making it a standout piece in the collection. “Origins” encapsulates the essence of where Hyperbolic Function began and hints at the exciting future ahead.

I was invited by MixPub Radio to put together a 2 hour mix for their show on Friday 7 February.  Really enjoyed pulling this together and had so much fun on the live chat with everyone as it was broadcast - what a lovely bunch!

A lifelong fan of electronic music, Hyperbolic Function began playing  instruments at the age of 13 and started DJing at 16. After moving to London in 2009, he immersed himself in the underground scene, which deeply influenced his sound and his dedication to the genre led him to found and manage the successful techno blog, The Techno Kittens.

Based in London, Hyperbolic Function has performed at iconic venues such as Electric Brixton and The Shelter. He also hosted Melodic Electronic on Music Box Radio, where his dynamic DJ sets and finely tuned productions found a dedicated audience.

His music is known for its progressive and melodic sound, characterised by a euphoric yet melancholic rave edge, enriched with intricate melodic layers. His debut EP, Ascending, released through Reckoning Records, soared the progressive house charts taking the #1 releases spot and peaking at #7 & #11 in the Hype and Top 100 charts.  

Currently, he is working on new music including a new EP, remixes, and preparing for upcoming DJ gigs.
