After launching sister label Glass Table last month to quite a bit of fanfare, Alex Jones and Cedric Maisons Hypercolour re-asserts its big brother status with She Kissed Me First from Spanish producer, El_Txef_A. Backed with remixes from Holgar Zilske and Minilogue and featuring digital only cut To Live And Die in Eh, the EP is a hell of a label debut for Aitor Etxebarria Bilbao, the 24 year old from Guernica who has previously seen his output on Flumo and Cray1 Labworks. Even with esteemed remixes such as Minilogue and Zilske, it would be impossible to pass on the original of She Kissed Me First; a superb slice of feel-good house built around a super simple, warm arpeggio, piano lick and vocal refrain which evokes the smiley Balearic vibe beloved of most house-heads this time of year. B-Pitch uber-producer and sometime Smash TV man, Zilske, delivers an appropriately delicate version of the original which retains the soul of the original but adds just a touch of sort of drunken funk he, and Hypercolour for that matter, is known for. Minilogue approach things from a more radical angle, turning in a slo-mo, heavily dubbed out rework which wraps itself around the listener for a 15 minute hug of epic proportions and is fully deserving of the Hypno Remix title. Finally, El_Txef_As parting shot is To Live And Die in Eh, a kick heavy groover which slots alongside its a-side companion in fine style soulful, simple house at its best. This is a great label debut and another killer Hypercolour 12 which is already seeing love from the likes Akufen, Glimpse and Steve Bug essential stuff.
