After last years well received album 'The Phoenix', King Britt returns with his 'Fhloston Paradigm' moniker for the first of a series of 'Cosmosis' EP's.
'Cosmosis Vol 1' is three spacey, perfumed hardware workouts of the kind that Fhloston Paradigm built his name on.
The EP starts with 'Sonic Six' matches bumping drum machine rhythms with gurgling bleeps and mournful strings building the emotion through the noise.
The second track is the slowly evolving ambience of ‘Faith’, which builds up into radiant, shimmering clouds of sound before a bass line drops midway grounding the track melodically and switching the emotion from ecstatic to bitter sweet.
The EP finishes with ‘Past’ where broken sounds are dragged over a warping piano line, a flickering static melody engulfs the track as the noise dies out.
Cosmosis Vol 2 comes early next year.

This track is taken from the collaboration by Durban gqom originator DJ Lag and London based Hyperdub mainstay  Okzharp, of Okzharp and Manthe Ribane. 

Having initially linked up online back in 2012,  DJ Lag and Okzharp connected in different places while touring, putting the wheels in motion for the Steam Rooms collaboration EP. 
The EP’s title originates from the Durban nickname for local clubs, “they used to refer to clubs as steam rooms, a lot of the early gqom-style  music was  played in these  places, there were quite a few tracks named after them. The name for the EP is a tribute to that.”

Nazar's debut album 'Guerrilla' is released 13th March 2020 on LP / CD / DIGI

Nazar is a 26-year-old Angolan producer who grew up in Belgium until his late teens, when he returned after the civil war and is now based in Manchester. 

 Nazar coined the term Rough Kuduro on his Soundcloud page, as an interpretation of the Angolan music and dance style, ‘weaponising’ it on his first EP Enclave released in late 2018, translating the normally upbeat style to expose the uglier side of what he saw in Angola.

On his debut album 'Guerrilla' Nazar uses Rough Kuduro to sensitively examine and digitalise his family’s collective memory and country's past, threading together oral histories, political realities and most significantly re-imaginings of direct horrors. Every track on 'Guerrilla' documents his personal story of the war and its aftermath in countless people's lives in a detailed and episodic manner. Nazar’s father's rank as a Rebel General led to prolonged separation of his family across continents, with continued effect.  “A couple of years ago, on one of many road trips I had with my father, we talked extensively about the conflict driving through Huambo and Luanda in Angola' where some of the events of the album took place. These, along with his father’s published wartime journal Memorias de Um Guerrilheiro (2006) planted the ideas for the themes of this album, and it began to take shape over trips back and forth, from Angola to his Manchester studio.

The first single from Loraine James' new album 'Reflection' is a solo introduction and a reset. It's a direct song called Simple Stuff vocalled directly and diaristically by Loraine, a minimal, gentle plea to be treated equally (as a black, queer woman) over criss-crossing drums. Loraine's vocals dissolve into distortion and fx's as if they are getting lost and then heard again.
