@franklanmusic returns yet again to HyperPop Records with their 3rd EP release on the label to date, 'Train Hopping in Cascadia'. Somewhat of a sonic departure from their previous installments, but all the while packed with those 'franklan' vibes we love so much, 'Train Hopping in Cascadia' employs the use of more guitar/indie rock stylings, and feels like the soundtrack to vignettes of ones literal journey hopping from one train to the next through the country.

Soulmate is a track me and clayekea made last summer. It was originally going to be a part of Holy Spirit. Like Flowerfields, it's a song based around a webtoon clayekea introduced me to:

from clayekea: “soulmate” is a song based on a Chinese Webtoon with the same name about a girl getting a second chance at her youth, and her attempt to save the girl she loves before it’s too late. At the same time, however, her past self switches places with her current self, forcing her past self  to adjust to a brand new life, new responsibilities, and living with a girl she doesn’t know. The lyrics reflect the story, covering both the perspectives of the girls’ past and present selves, with both verses opening by showing their initial thoughts about their different surroundings.

Hello! 

Sorry for the extended absence. The hiatus was not something I planned, or even something I really noticed happening. Sometimes 4 years just go by without you noticing, I guess. The two songs I am uploading are not new material, just different versions of two old songs - two of my favourites. 

From 2020 to 2022 I was making music more actively; about 2 hours of music (including an entire album) has been sat 75% finished since then. I could just never push past that last 25% on those songs, for many different reasons. Since 2022, pretty much all of my creative energy (unfortunately a limited resource these days, although it’s still doing better than my social energy levels to be sure) has been going towards writing rather than music. Again, not an intentional choice to abandon music or anything, things just happened that way. More specifically, I’m writing a fantasy novel, which I am currently calling ‘Everwidow’. Currently just under halfway done with 180 pages, although to my annoyance the story keeps presenting me with new things to write about far beyond what I initially expected, so that may increase. There won’t be many updates on that for quite some time I expect, but it has been my main focus for a few years now. As for music, I don’t know whether I will finish any of those older songs, or completely wipe the slate clean and start fresh with new music and a new name when the time comes. 

I know this little update doesn’t amount to much, but just wanted to say that I’m alive, working on something (if not music currently), and that there will be music again at some indeterminable time in the future. These last 4 years have had more significant change happen in my life than anything that came before it, so thank you for granting me that time to adjust.
If you’re reading this, I hope you’re doing well, and know that I deeply appreciate the fact you’re listening to the songs and reading this at all after 4 years of silence. These two uploads are for you.
