We are excited to introduce the first release on HYPHEN RECORDS: a collaborative 3-track EP by our label head vauna (@vaunamusic) featuring remixes by Bekkler (@bekkler) and Pino Peña (@pinopena). 

Berlin-based artist vauna re-introduces himself with a high-energy dance-floor track, artfully fusing minimal techno with dub and progressive elements. Explorations ignites electronic music fans with an uncompromising groove,  unique sound design and a tasteful chord progression. 

Bekkler delivers a captivating, hypnotic remix with a dark soundscape carried by gritty, minimalist drums. With this intense, atmospheric interpretation, the @bkhskllktv label boss once again showcases his talent for creative sound design and storytelling.

The EP closes with an energetic, groove-focused remix by Pino Peña living of a strong bass line. Turning up the energy, the W133 Records label founder and @schimmerrecords resident, is a reliable source of bouncy dance floor weapons.

The collaborative journey continues on this 3-track EP by hyphen co-founder vauna (@vaunamusic) featuring remixes by Noëtik (@noetiksounds) and Jannik Aßfalg (@jannik-asfalg). 
With the title track, vauna takes dancers on an emotional journey. Driven by its catchy bassline, a melancholic story unfolds full of acid- & dub-infused soundscapes, united in an minimal aesthetic. 
Nöetik's remix creates an intense energy in the room with constantly evolving hypnotic sounds building a charged atmosphere. Once again, the Abstract Motion founder demonstrates his talent for producing highly effective, unique dancefloor material. 
A mezmerizing bass remix by Jannik Aßfalg closes the EP. With its bouncy dub-bassline, spherical textures and evolving melodies, the Diffractions Records co-founder delivers the perfect sound for opening and closing a long night.

@lo_rel grew up on the west coast of the US, for a long time consuming only (post-)punk and psychedelic music, rejecting electronic music as a whole. A few years ago she had a change of heart, and unlocked so many new sounds to catch up with. Now she can't get enough. 

Diving down many musical rabbit-holes, she aims to put together diverse yet harmonious mixes.

We continue to introduce ourselves with the second mix of our new series from our organization team! 

@vaunamusic first entered the electronic music scene 2016 as a DJ and live-act, quickly making a name with his rhythmically funky, genre-crossing sound. Constantly shaping and refining his style, vauna’s live sets and productions have developed into contemporary techno, combining groovy, dusty rhythms with dirty industrial percussions and ravey synths. As a DJ, his track selection is naturally guided not by genre, but by vibe, sound and an everlasting love for playful weirdness. Dedication to creating unique arrangements and sounds has always been at the heart of vauna’s musical work.

We're excited to share our first guest mix, a journey through time with @sxcl . We enjoyed a set of theirs at a party of friends early this year, their diverse selection of retro and futuristic sounds leaving an impression that motivated us to ask them to be one of our first featured artists. In their own words:

This set is a dive into a deep ocean of sounds. It begins with the gentle warmth of ethereal pads, then descends into a realm of percussion and sonorities that start to distort the sense of time. Sometimes little bubbles make their way up towards the surface, but we want to venture deeper. Surrounded by the profound resonance of the bass, and by sequencers of wonders, we can reach the so-called flow state.


DJ, musician and producer, SXCL is a sonic alien, deeply evolved in the electronic music scene of Berlin. Growing up on the volcanic island of Réunion, SXCL found their feet in music. 

Their sets and music productions are a harmony between a melancholic gaze toward old-school with futuristic beats and frenetic trance.

Izzy ist an der Westküste der USA aufgewachsen und hat lange Zeit hauptsächlich (Post-)Punk und psychedelischen Rock konsumiert, wobei sie die elektronische Musik komplett ablehnte. Vor etwa 5 Jahren hatte sie jedoch eine Sinnesänderung und entdeckte viele neue Klänge, was eine neue musikalische Obsession auslöste - jetzt kann sie nicht genug davon bekommen.

Die starke Anziehungskraft von Punk und Psychedelic wurde von den Menschenmassen beeinflusst, die zu den Shows kommen, und der Art und Weise, wie die Künstler mit ihrem Publikum provozieren und interagieren. Sie hat immer diese Zeit für Selbstausdruck genossen, hat aufgestaute Emotionen und Energie ausgeschüttet, umgeben von freundlichen Gesichtern, die dasselbe tun.

Sleepy Insomniac’s mix weaves in and out of hazy and sweaty dreams. Waking up, you follow a beat sprinkled with bubbling, spiraling, vibrating astral elements. 

Throughout, he bridges gaps between classic breakbeat rhythms and characteristics of progressive psychedelic techno, trance, and electro. As the dream develops he dives deeper into trance territory with winding acidic melodies and echoing percussion, creating an atmosphere both futuristic and oldschool. The temperature rises, as electro-infused breakbeats build tension and increase the speed limit.

This heightened energy fades into a soft hypnosis to close out the mix.

@sleepyxinsomniac is a DJ based out of New Delhi, India, with a penchant for hazy, dreamy and tripped-out electronic music. With a background in computer science, he is usually immersed in projects that meld music, software and technology. 

From 2019 to 2021, he was a resident at New Delhi based online radio station, @boxoutfm , producing the show Lucid Dreams which introduced listeners to an amalgamation of new wave and old school euphoric stompers and smoke-and-haze melodies. He has also been a frequent face at various global radio stations and podcasts, producing his signature hypnotic mixes for @rinsefm , @ worldwide-fm , @kioskradio , @future-intel , @refugeworldwide and more. Lately he’s active in the local scene, regularly playing events at venues around New Delhi.

vauna is a Berlin based producer and DJ. With hyphen, he is a resident and responsible for our label activities which start in November this year. 

vauna‘s constant exploration of modern electronic music has led to a sound that emphasizes strong tribal grooves, psychedelic synth lines and refreshing turns into bass. He focuses on aesthetic pleasure, quality production, and subtleties that make his works a pleasure to listen and dance to.

This mix is a celebration of the diverse influences collected over a summer's festivals. @svo_008 opens the mix with a set of serpentine breakbeats that draw you in through the mist. The mix folds in electro, techno, more breaks, and psy- characteristics, constantly meshing with one another to create a distinct mood of its own. For this mix, SVO wanted to test his own boundaries and we're mutually excited by the result.

Based in Madrid, SVO has a long-standing obsession with electronic music that solidified when he began to DJ himself. He’s now a resident of @008collective , a Madrid-based event and podcast series. SYN Premiere: vauna - Explorations [HYPH001]

for mix no.16 we invited @user-924063095 aka mole, Berlin-based DJ and member of the @scheissmukke crew. He’s now blessed us with our first all-vinyl mix of the series. 

The set begins with stomping, rumbling and growling techno tracks that build up into euphoric, nostalgic melodies, excited percussions and vocals. You’ll enjoy a taste of acid as you cool down. Mole is known for his blend of oldschool techno, stomping beats, and mental trance. His sets feature tribal rhythms and energetic bangers, creating a captivating experience.

Together with childhood friend @degen-dj he’s 4meter, a b2b duo known for their high-energy vinyl sets packed with forgotten gems. The pair are a part of the Scheißmukke collective, who regularly host parties in Berlin that we can highly recommend :)

Next beautiful file is hailing from big B. vauna is a Berlin based producer and DJ dedicated to exploring modern electronic music & complex rhythms. He is a co-founder of the event series and record label hyphen.
vauna is known for a uplifting, genre-crossing sound. Constantly shaping and refining his style, vauna’s live sets and productions have developed into contemporary, hardware-focused techno, defined by strong grooves and aesthetically appealing sound palettes. As a DJ, his track selection is guided naturally by vibe and atmosphere more than genre.

Dedication to creating unique arrangements and sounds has always been at the heart of vauna’s musical work. As a classically trained musician, vauna’s musical origins are rooted in experimental and progressive rock music, releasing his first self-produced album at age 19. PREMIERE: vauna - Explorations (Bekkler Remix) [HYPH001]

Emma Helena dives into diverse pools of bass-centric tracks for this dynamic set. In her own words: 

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on music’s role in our scene, especially on how today’s collective sense of crisis shapes its aesthetics. Electronic music is booming, fulfilling its promise of providing an escape from societal pressures, even if only briefly.

Right now, even “underground” electronic dance music contrasts sharply with a world marked by uncertainty — delivering euphoria and a lighthearted aesthetic just as it becomes more commercialized. But I see a counter-movement growing, one that is redefining the underground aesthetic to mirror our human condition. In this mix, I wanted to explore a glimpse of that.

This Austrian powerhouse’s journey into the world of underground dance music started in her teen years, and she’s been on a mission to sprinkle her hype and energy to all the club kids out there ever since.
