SOTAK is the solo project of Swiss DJ and producer Laurent Bovey, who was previously one-half of the pioneering electronic duo Digitaline. With over a decade of experience in the electronic music scene, having released on influential labels like Cadenza, Cityfox, and Get Physical, Laurent embarked on a new creative journey with SOTAK in 2023. This project blends his love for techno, house, and experimental music with his deep connection to the natural world.

SOTAK’s debut EP, "Sounds Of The Animal Kingdom", released on 33 Records, featured the tracks "Auk" and "Nok Thet". These tracks set the foundation for the project’s exploration of organic soundscapes fused with electronic energy. Drawing inspiration from the raw beauty of nature, Laurent’s music reflects the untamed, primal essence of the world around us, blending electronic rhythms with organic textures.

In 2024, Laurent continued his sonic exploration with the Midnight Run EP, a release that further showcases his skill in crafting hypnotic, dancefloor-driven techno. Each track is designed to captivate both the mind and body, balancing intensity with a deep, immersive atmosphere.

2025 saw the release of Stratosonic, another standout EP on 33 Records, which featured two deep and atmospheric tracks. The title track pulses with basslines and airy synths, while "Siren Song" brings a more dubby groove, layering ethereal vocals with captivating textures. Both tracks embody Laurent’s ability to create soundscapes that work both in the
club and for focused listening at home.

While Laurent’s live performances remain special and less frequent, DJing has become the focal point of his musical career. His DJ sets are deeply immersive, blending techno and house with atmospheric textures that take listeners on a hypnotic journey. Whether in intimate venues or on festival stages, his sets are energetic and entrancing, creating unforgettable experiences for the crowd.

What truly sets SOTAK apart is Laurent's vision as a multidisciplinary artist. Beyond his musical creations, he also crafts visual art that accompanies his music. By collaborating with a diverse array of featured artists, he merges the worlds of sound and vision, creating immersive, multisensory experiences that blur the lines between technology, art, and nature. His captivating visuals help tell the story of SOTAK, enhancing the overall journey for his listeners and offering an added layer to his already mesmerizing sound.

With SOTAK, Laurent Bovey continues to push the boundaries of electronic music, wherenature and technology meet to create something truly unique. His music remains a constant evolution, inviting listeners into a world where primal energy and modern innovation collide in perfect harmony.

szoliver is a DJ, producer, and the founder of techlab.bp, a Budapest-based label and event series dedicated to the full spectrum of psychedelic electronic music. His sets blend psychedelic techno and trance with detailed sound design, always shaped to match the mood and energy of each setting. He has performed at respected venues like Säule Berghain, RSO, and HÖR, and appeared on festival lineups like O.Z.O.R.A, Mo:Dem Festival, Kolorádó, INOTA, Katlan, and S.U.N. Festival. In 2025, he toured Southeast Asia with performances in Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Through techlab.bp, he continues deepening Budapest’s presence on the psychedelic music map. Alongside his main project, he also produces under two aliases: as Idéző, focusing on nature-inspired tracks, and as Modul, where he explores progressive, synth-driven dance music.

Today, he’s an active figure in Budapest’s underground venues, both as a DJ and a producer. His sets are known for their fast-paced, progressive energy, blending groovy trance with the occasional twist of broken beats to keep the dancefloor engaged and moving.
