2020 was a year when we all needed beams of light at the end of the longest, darkest tunnel the world had found itself in decades. Instinctively, the Selador community rose to the challenge, none more so than Kiz Pattison & Micah, whose collaborative debut was a massive breakout tune from our Tenth Chapter showcase EP.

As DJ streams and dancing on impromptu dancefloors at home became the norm, Beam of Light became a regular feature in many a lockdown soundtrack, a major tune for the likes of Sasha, Anthony Pappa and of course our own directorship, Seaman & Parry. So with the vaccines arolling, club and festival dates being firmed up in our diaries and that beam of light seemingly growing brighter by the day, what better way to celebrate than with a top drawer remix package?

Booom! We are delighted to welcome Brazils techno don Renato Cohen back to Selador. Here he zeros in on the first of the original mixs killer hooks, the 80s styled motif that starts and ends the track, and builds an electro throbber that sounds like the Human League through a sparkling rave filter.

Oooof! Kiz & Micah then themselves deliver a new take, the 4am Dub, a darker, moodier interpretation of their original, showing off their deeper tendencies, like a big sister luring you over to the darker recesses of the dancefloor.

Pow! Long-time friend of Selador Robert Babicz, takes the hook from the originals showpiece drop and delivers a low slung breaks driven re-rub custom made for all you dubwise bass bin lurkers. And theres more its a Babicz double drop as he tenders an ambient mix that gives all those magical synth layers maximum room to breathe, gently building on the breeze.

Kerching! Were not finished yet! Its VFM time as Kiz and Micah deliver a brand new bonus track, the afroacidtechfunk workout that is The Key. Not to be missed, this beauty deserves its own moment in the spotlight, twisting and turning its way to instant earworm central.

And there you have it, the futuress so bright we gotta wear shades.

A vocação inequívoca para as pick-ups e a capacidade de flertar com as variantes da House Music, do Trance e do Techno no mesmo set rapidamente fizeram dele uma referência na discotecagem com vinis: dono de um grande acervo repleto de raridades, logo nos primeiros anos de carreira ele percorreu os principais clubes do Brasil e já em 2000 venceu o “Philips Expression”, torneio que reuniu grandes DJs brasileiros.

Globally renowned for his wealth of intricate productions and an expansive musical catalogue that strikes the perfect balance between power and grace, award-winning producer Rodriguez Jr. now announces his latest full-length studio album project, Feathers & Bones – set for worldwide release on May 26 via his newly launched imprint of the same name.

An extensive, ten-track opus that dives deep into the Frenchman’s complex sonic identity, Feathers & Bones was recorded over the course of two years, conceptualized while living in Paris and completed from his new home, Miami. Pivoting towards a new chapter in his illustrious career, the album houses a collection of new Rodriguez Jr. solo productions, two singles with Cuban-American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liset Alea, his collaboration with multifaceted Italian artist Giorgia Angiuli, as well as an eagerly-anticipated debut collaboration with legendary English hip hop / electronica outfit, Stereo MC’s.

Following the recent release of Tuning The Moon with Giorgia Angiuli, Rodriguez Jr. reveals the next vocal single to be taken from the album. Teaming up with his wife and Nouvelle Vague collaborator, Liset Alea, Amplify emanates hedonistic grooves across its duration, combining raw bass, celestial synths and Liset’s alluring vocals. Working together in perfect harmony, this charming creation will leave a lasting impression on the listener. Joining Amplify, Rodriguez Jr. also delivers his first instrumental record in the form of Lithium. Exuding a mysterious atmosphere, the track builds gradually with flurrying synths and eerie pads, pushed along by raw, driving bass.

Speaking about Feathers & Bones, Rodriguez Jr. mentioned:

“Now more than ever, I feel the urgency to explore different formats and genres. Twenty-five years of experience in music production and thousands of shows for diverse audiences all over the world has taught me that the unpredictable is often at the core of every achievement, especially today when dance music has become so formatted. The album is a pivot towards a new chapter of my life and carries the personal alchemy that I seek in my live shows; oscillating between dreamy melodies, ethereal textures and kinetic beats.”

Giving insight into Amplify’s backstory, Liset Alea said:

“Written in lock-down Paris, a time of deep reflection and dreams of escape, I kept asking myself what takes me beyond the craziness of this world, what makes me vibrate at a higher frequency, what amplifies me? Whatever guarantees my goosebumps, it is definitely sacred and worth writing a song about.”

2017 has already been an exciting year for Melbourne based  Matty Doyle aka Matter. Long revered in the progressive house underground, the Australian artist is fresh off a contribution (in collaboration with GMJ)  to Anjunadeep's 'Explorations' 4 EP compilation. Having forged a distinctive sound, Matty's fluid, hypnotic style has also found a place in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now capping the year off in style Matter makes his much anticipated debut on Cid Inc's Replug Records with a two track EP entitled 'Satori'.

 Matter's ability to craft smooth, meditative sound stories is second to none. How he incorporates emotion in subtle yet impactful ways is perhaps what makes him such a unique artist. The lead track 'Satori' displays that perfectly with its rolling groove and sleek, harmonic narrative. Deep, pulsating and laced with astral effects, the first act foreshadows a near two minute break. Developing in waves, warm bass swells highlight the centrepiece, complementing the radiant theme, as a percussive underbelly intensifies towards a powerful drop.

 The companion piece 'Indica' showcases a deeper side of Matter's studio repertoire. The Aussie's fluid sound works amazingly well in a laid back context and this sits as a great complement to 'Satori'. Immaculately contoured bass tones power the foundation while gentle chord stabs, organic percussion  and dusty vocals fill in the framework. Clocking in at nine minutes it's a serene break that shifts the mood with icy pads, giving way to a smooth, atmospheric finale. In a year filled with standout productions, Matter may have saved his best for last, with two tracks that are sure to make their mark as the winter club season unfolds.
