The inception of Adelaide band HYRS was by some fortuitous paradox. Old friends Holly Younger and Ross Simpson forged a strong song writing partnership with their compliment of talents; Younger, primarily an accomplished visual artist, lyricist and vocalist balanced with Simpson a legally blind multi-instrumentalist.

Their debut EP Rented Space was released in September 2016 in which they worked with producer Ben Green of Private Universe Studio (also frontman of Move To Strike). Track 2 "Torrents" features guitar cameo from Tom Montesi of unearthed band LEO.

Rented Space is fuelled with rhythmic and melodic spotlights, tender vocal stories, and tom heavy rolling drumbeats. Likened to the sound of Chvrches, Daughter, Passion Pit and Julia Stone HYRS sound is inspired by the strength of pure love and spirit, subliminal connections, and of the tribulations of wild hearts in a tamed society.
