One of my favorite quotes is ‘Words can only affect you to the degree in which you think they are true.’ Now, recently since I've been DJing more, I've been getting some messages saying you're not a real DJ or you're only getting these gigs because you have a lot of followers or you're the problem, you're what's wrong with the scene. And this used to affect me, but it absolutely does not affect me anymore because I know I am putting in the work. I am listening to every single Beatport release. I'm listening to every single promo that comes my way. I'm reaching out to my favorite up and coming producers to get my hands on unreleased music that nobody else has heard yet. When you put in the work, you stop worrying about the opinions of others and you focus more on your own progression. Sander Kleinenberg once told me that a great DJ listens to four thousand tracks and picks the best twelve he think the dancefloor will enjoy most. And that's all I'm focused on. I'm putting in the work. I know you guys are putting in the work too, and because of that, I think this week's mix is my best mix yet. And I really hope that you all enjoy it. Thank you so much for the support.

Alice Iguchi, a Tokyo-born DJ now based in Brooklyn, channels a lifetime of cross-cultural influences into her hypnotic, shape-shifting sets. Since arriving in New York in 2015, she has carved out a space in the city’s underground house and techno scene, emerging as a quietly distinctive voice. Early encounters with jazz, teenage years playing guitar in Tokyo rock bands, and a deep affinity for the experimental soundscapes of Radiohead and Björk have all left their imprint on her approach.

The result is a kaleidoscope of melodies, jazz-inflected rhythms, and organic percussion, woven seamlessly into sets that feel at once atmospheric and propulsive. Whether commanding the decks at the Brooklyn Mirage, Womb in Tokyo, or Berlin’s Sisyphos, Iguchi has earned a reputation for transporting dancers into her richly textured sonic world.

On this Balance Selections mix, she leans into dense progressive and afro-tech, crafting a moody blend of underground energy. Featuring tracks from Petar Dundov, Giovanny Aparicio, and Art of Sol, it’s a kinetic ride with a distinctive organic edge.

Hyunji-A, also known as Hyunji Lee, is a Korean-Canadian music producer and DJ now based in Berlin after having relocated recently from Montreal. With a foundation in classical piano training since the age of 4, her deep rooted passion for music has evolved naturally over the years. Hyunji-A's artistic focus leans towards crafting emotionally compelling music.
