Jose "hzy" Portales is an esteemed DJ and producer from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, specializing in blending dark, progressive/melodic techno, tech trance, and producing melodic/progressive techno. He is widely known for techno, "pero del bueno" with an added "progressive-dark-melodic" twist. 

Hzy entered the EDM scene in 2009, and with his work ethic and vision to be involved in the music world, he began his career in the industry in 2012 and has since climbed the DFW scene ladder, transitioning from an event promoter to a performing DJ/Producer and stage manager/talent acquisition. He has worked with artists of all levels and genres, from Deborah De Luca to A-list celebrity DJs such as DJ Pauly D. His recent affiliations include NRG Music Events (2023-Current), Pulsation Nation (2020-2022) and Cross Border Warriors (2015-2021).

He was previously a resident for Pulsation Nation and curator of The Underground Room at The Yard in Fort Worth. Currently, he serves as one of the resident dj/producers for NRG Music Events, a trance/techno music group and promotion company based out of Los Angeles but now currently in Dallas/Fort Worth as of 2022.

Hzy has played open support for world renowned acts such as Morten, Grammy-Nominee Matt Lange, Orjan Nilsen, Arctic Moon, and Bryan Kearney as well as sharing stage with acts for music festivals such as headliners ranging from Bassjackers, Henry Fong to Giuseppe Ottaviani, Oliver Smith, Sunny Lax, John 00 Fleming, John O’Callaghan, Markus Schulz, Ilan Bluestone, Jerome Isma-ae and Sander van Doorn. Received support from Armin van Buuren, Sean Tyas and others.

He has also performed at multiple music festivals throughout the southern coast of the United States including Happy Festival in OKC, Galaxy Station Trance Festival in HTX, Flow Faire NTX. He has also performed in venues such as The Lizard Lounge, Stereo Live, and Ridglea Theatre in North Texas all the way to El Secreto in Orlando/Cocoa Beach, Florida.
