"Fade Out" is a theatrical installation by John Panagiotou.

This piece of art, works as an 8 channel installation of a radio play and gives a new perspective on it. The actor’s words work as a musical material for the composition of music. Angle triangles with hand and knee imprints on them, a piano, a door and many other objects placed in the middle of the room, reference to the remainings of an in-progress or finished play with actors that never appear.

Both the sound and the visual part of this installation, make an immersive situation and the audience can walk around and shape its experience from its perspective. The project discusses issues of immersion, narration, repetition, and perception.

Do we leave something behind just because we fall even if it is unfinished?

Bio:

John Panagiotou is an artist and composer. He is the creator of concert music (instrumental & electroacoustic), installations and interdisciplinary performances. He has composed music for dance, theatre, video art and animation. Works of him have been commissioned by The New What Now, Paxos Festival, Audio Visual Arts Festival, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, RCS Bridge Week and St Andrews University. He has also collaborated with Red Note, Edinburgh Quartet, Decoda, Edinburgh Film Music Orchestra, St Andrews New Music Ensemble, and Portativ.

Studies:
John is a PhD researcher in Composition with Interdisciplinary Practices at the University of Edinburgh, under the supervision of Yati Durant, Martin Parker & Kevin Dagg. He studied MA in Composition with David Fennessy & Oliver Searle and Sonic Arts with Alistair McDonald at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Finally, he holds a BMus Degree from the Ionian University, where he studied Composition for Film, Theatre & Performing Arts and Byzantine Musicology with Dimitra Trypani, Vasilis Kitsos and Dimitrios Giannelos.

Inspired by the story of Jonas and the whale from the Old Testament, “Urban Whale” expresses the thoughts of being inside and recalling the outside, being under the roof and listening to the outworld, “being in-between”.

Title: Metamorphosis
Description: interactive, multichannel sound and video installation

Concept:
The artwork transforms G.F. Handel's aria "V' adoro pupille" into an interactive multimedia experience. In this aria, Cleopatra, while in disguise as "Lidia", uses her charms to seduce Cesare.
Both the sound and the visual part of this installation, make an immersive situation and the audience can walk around and shape the artwork through its movement and its experience from its perspective.
The aria is being used as a vehicle that transfers the concept of the installation which discusses issues of metamorphosis, destruction, distortion and perception.
