Sondela Spotlight 018 - Thakzin

Da Capo, a trailblazer in the Afro-House music genre, hailing from Seshego, Limpopo South Africa, has become a global sensation in the dance music scene. 
"Bakone," which means "People from the North" in Sepedi (Northern Sotho), Da Capo's latest work pays homage to his roots. This highly anticipated EP serves as a preview to his upcoming full album which is set to be released in late 2023. With a focus on the future of Afrotech, Bakone exudes power and is crafted for club enthusiasts. The EP features carefully selected hidden gems from Da Capo's repertoire and includes collaborations with renowned artists such as Batundi, Nana Attah, Lokau Kanza, and Da Africa Deep.

Unfortunately I no longer have the original track-list for this set. These tracks are all originally made or remixed by other artists not by myself, I've just selected and mixed them together here for your pleasure and amusement. Your best bet now is the mobile app Shazam if you need specific track IDs. Any bookers please also note that I no longer DJ this particular style or genre of music - this was a one-off set! :)

Electro-Swing is a fusion of electronic dance music and 1920s, 1930's & 1940s Jazz and Big Band styles with genres such as House & Electro music, made popular by artists such as Parov Stelar

The Mix also includes some tracks from the new 'Balkan' style house music that uses samples from old Russian / Balkan records. Then at the end of the mix it goes off on a tangent to the 1960s :oD 

Recorded Live on two Pioneer CDJs, at my DJ residency for Distil, Lebua, an exclusive 5 Star hotel lounge bar in Bangkok Thailand. The hotel was recently used in a shoot for 'The Hangover Part 2' Movie.
