As a blogger and hopeless music addict, I spend endless fruitful hours scouring the vast reaches of the internet in search of magic... on a quest for the next goosebump-inducing melody, a new catchy earworm, or an addictive-to-sing vocal hook. I hunt music that suits my emotional needs, music I can feel, and relate to. My efforts reward me with the soundtrack to my daily life, and the collection of treasures I amassed, a reflection of myself. This podcast is a medley of tracks that, for whatever unique reason, grabbed me at the time that we happened to cross paths, and suited my mood at the time of making the podcast, which happened to be melancholic... with a tinge of darkness.

I make these for myself, but if you happen to enjoy it, that's cool too. :)

The classically trained musician Worakls surprises with yet another high-quality two tracker for Hungry Music. He dedicates the release and track one to the electro-mechanical, polyphonic tape replay keyboard named Mellotron. The Mellotron was often used by the Beatles, Genesis and King Crimson. It became a notable instrument in progressive rock during the 1960s until the 1980s. Worakls crafts a well balanced musical piece featuring the trademark Mellotron sound, combined with a cutting-edge and warm dance groove. The orchestral atmospheric elements give ‘Mellotron’ that indescribable timeless touch that Worakls delivers so well.

Next up is the dramatic & energy filled ‘Pandemonium” composition. Worakls once again skillfully combines not only two but three musical genres and molds them into an epic dance track. The string section and diabolical brass instruments set the dramaturgical vibe, while the various layers of guitars rock their way into mayhem. The strong 4/4 beat carries the musical elements gracefully and provides full dancefloor compatibility.

Worakls - Mellotron

XYLØ reached out to me a while back to remix this song and we both recently decided to stop keeping it to ourselves. Paige has an incredible voice and the track is super dark so I wanted to keep the integrity of the original but make it a bit more energetic during the drop. I always try to give remixes the structure of songs instead of just words with drops. This track is super listenable, but still goes off live. I’m excited to start playing it in sets.
