A collection of different gems scattered over the floor of (not only) contemporary music scene assembled together into one hour listening trip. The Sunflower galaxy was discovered in 1779 by the French astronomer Pierre Méchain and was the first of 24 objects that Méchain would contribute to Charles Messier’s catalog. The galaxy is located roughly 27 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici. It has an apparent magnitude of 9.3 and appears as a faint patch of light in small telescopes. The best time to observe M63 is during May.

A short-lived band from 1991. 

Группа Елена Эфемерная — это экспериментальный проект рождённый в стенах Московского Института Тонких Химических Технологий (МИТХТ) и просуществовавщий с 1990 по 1991 год. В группу входили Дмитрий Малкин, Илья Киселев и Виктория Качур. Познакомил участников и придумал название Олег Говядовский. К слову, пленку со всем материалом мы получили от него. Вся музыка записывалась в общежитии МИТХТ при помощи двух микшеров и бобинного магнитофона. 

Записав первый альбом, ребята послали его в журнал «Аврора». На письмо ответил Пётр Сытенков и пригласил ребят в гости. Вскоре в журнале появилась рецензия. Приводим ее ниже: 

«Внимание, любители крутого авангарда! Сегодня на наших страницах представляем первый альбом трио альтернативной музыки "ЕЭ", вынесенный на суд широких меломанских масс. Поклонники Кейджа и Штокхаузена, смело экспериментируют с саундом и музыкальными формами, выдавливая из своих синтезаторов безумные и нечеловеческие звуки. И в то же время их эксперименты не приобретают ту запредельность, которая порой лишает произведения мэтров какой-либо возможности для понимания. Вне всякого сомнения - это музыка для немногих, но тем не менее она имеет полное право на существование. Она расширяет горизонты музыкальных представлений, заставляет по-иному взглянуть на тенденцию развития современного рок-н-ролла». 

В этот релиз вошли некоторые треки из альбома «Воспитание» и наиболее интересные фрагменты из неизданных пленок.

A quickfire follow-up to the recently released set of unreleased braindance damage Rave ‘Till You Cry, this mixtape sees up-and-coming electronic producer 8Ball (Grade10) unleashed on Bodgan’s classic Rephlex catalogue. Taking tracks from 99’s Samurai Math Beats through to 07’s Alright!, he stitches together a seamless hour-long journey through Bogdan’s alien melodies and off-centre rhythms, augmented with liberal doses of FX and amen breaks.

8Ball has established a name for himself in recent years through 2 excellent EPs that explore the intersection of ambient, jungle and hardcore. He’s a key member of Leicester’s Grade10 crew whose activities include a label, radio show, the Back To Life parties, and the recently opened Out Of Joint record shop. 

Raczynski arrived on the scene in 1999 with not one but three albums released in quick succession that year alone on Rephlex Records, a unique operator even by Braindance standards, rumoured to have been discovered by Aphex Twin whilst sleeping rough in Tokyo. A steady stream of records followed, hyperactive broadsides of percussion set off by a winning knack for the buried earworm melody, much like his mentor RDJ. He also memorably collaborated with Björk and remixed Autechre for Warp's 10+3 compilation. Rave ‘Till You Cry was his first album release in 12 years and has drawn praise from the likes of Resident Advisor (“Charming miniatures of rabid breaks and wistful melody”) and DJ Mag (“fantastically frenzied and futuristic”).

»Izhevsk is a city located between the Ural mountains and the Volga river. In other words, in the middle of nowhere – there’s no chance you’ll be passing it by unless it is your final destination. Comparing to other Russian cities, Izhevsk is a town where it is still easy to find silent places. Since this is a ‘factory-town’, there are sounds of working factories distinguishable in this silence in some places and by night. As a teen I spent a lot of time outdoors with my friends imagining where those sounds could come from. Years later I learned that it was not only me who heard the sounds. I think the atmosphere of the city much influenced the phenomenon of ‘Izhevsk music wave’ and Izhevsk as a ‘Russian capital of electronic music’ in the late 80s and 90s. This mix embodies this atmosphere, this time and those sounds. 

Unfortunately it’s impossible to find an archive or Discogs catalogue music of this time and listen to it. There are only few records in high quality, which seems to be natural. Some records in 90s and 00s were produced on CDs, tapes and different mixtapes; some were never released, others are released now – like a vinyl record by Samtsi Dronta put out in 2019 and compiled from mp3 records. Today we can proudly say that the band Стук Бамбука в XI часов (Stuk Bambuka V XI Chasov) invented trip-hop simultaneously with Bristol scene. It was possible to do in such a context. 
The phenomenon of Izhevsk seems to become more trending from year to year – and now on air at Radio Cómeme. Enjoy!«
