Yn y rhifyn Cymraeg hwn mae Lis McLean o Theatr Soar yn egluro rôl y Theatr yng Nghreu Cyffro fel hyb Cymraeg ar gyfer Merthyr Tudful a’i cylch. Mae hanes hir a chyfoethog gan y theatr a oedd yn gapel ers talwm. Capel chwaer Soar oedd Capel Bethesda, nad yw’n bodoli bellach, ond oedd capel Joseph Parry, y cyfansoddwr ac un o feibion enwocaf Merthyr a gafodd ei eni ym 1841.

Mae Theatr Soar yn gartref i gaffi, canolfan gelfyddydau a pherfformio, Menter Iaith Merthyr Tudful a sawl o ddosbarthau a digwyddiadau. E ei bod yn hyb Cymraeg, mae’r Ganolfan yn croesawu pobl o’r holl gymunedau ieithyddol Merthyr y dyddiau hyn megis Iaith Arwyddion Prydain, Pwyleg, Portiwgaleg a mwy. Hefyd, mae Canolfan Soar wedi croesawu’n ddiweddar y teuluoedd Wcrainaidd cyntaf sydd wedi dod i Ferthyr.

In this Welsh language episode Lis McLean of Theatr Soar explain the role the Theatre is playing in Creu Cyffro as the Welsh language hub for Mertyr Tydfil and the surrounding area. The Theatre has a long and rich history and was formerly a chapel. Soar’s sister chapel was Capel Bethesda, which doesn’t exist anymore, but was the chapel of Joseph Parry, the composer and one of Merthyr’s most famous sons who was born in 1841.

Theatr Soar is home to a café, an arts and performance centre, Menter Iaith Merthyr Tudful and a range of classes and events. Although it is a Welsh language hub, the Centre welcomes people from all of Merthyr’s linguistic communities today such as British Sign Language, Polish, Portuguese and more. Also, Canolfan Soar has recently welcomed the first Ukrainian families who have come to Merthyr.
