DOESN'T MATTER TO ME

Alexander’s first pop cover song to ever be released is FREEDOM. The teen chose this chart-topping bop, originally written and recorded by WHAM! in 1983, as a fun summer interlude to his next original song. 

Having been referenced in the press as the next George Michael, Alexander’s 'Freedom' pays respect to him whilst representing his British roots and true love for 80’s Brit Pop. 

Releasing on all platforms August 20, 2021, Alexander has crafted the cover song to suit his own taste with various live instruments including keyboards, guitars, brass and percussion. 

“My cover song of Freedom by WHAM! was so much fun to record. I have been so excited for its release, I began performing it way ahead of schedule! Everything about this song has been thought out. From its timing out in the world as we all need to feel included and free, to the opening brass sequence and the cover art wearing the famed ‘Choose Life’ T-shirt and color spectrum. Recording the vocals took one hour, but the mix took hours of careful attention. I hope I did Wham! proud.”

CHERRY BOMB

Oozing with celestial lyrics and majestical metaphors, the funk driven high energy smash hit from the award-winning British-born recording artist was inspired by the teens love of 80’s music and disco era blended with today’s mainstream pop vibe. 

Co-written by Alexander James Rodriguez and Liz Rodriguez and produced by Gemini Muziq (Justin Bieber: Purpose), SHINE is a classic four-on-the-floor beat with basslines, electric rhythm guitar and layered vocals showcasing the 14-year-olds phenomenal falsetto range.

“We wrote SHINE from scratch in the studio. It began with a simple kick drum and snare, before adding the funky bass guitars, my signature bells, and chimes, which appear in all of my songs,” explained Rodriguez. “This song has the most vocal layers I have ever recorded on a song so far, from talk backs to backing vocals and adlibs. It was definitely one of my most favorite to write and record.”

Now in his third-year writing and recording music, Alexander’s hit single ‘Cherry Bomb’ won the 2021 LA Fest 'Audience Choice Award' and was nominated for Best Music Video at the 2021 Hollywood Music in Media Awards, alongside the music industries elite, making him not only the youngest nominee, but securely planting himself beside today’s mainstream Top40 artists.

Behind the Song:

Continuing his journey of pure pop, ‘Mesmerized’ is Alexander’s 14th single to be released. Hauntingly mesmerizing, the song was recorded in less than an hour and showcases a more mature and grittier vocal from the teen. 

Written by Liz Rodriguez, ‘Mesmerized’ was penned with a 70’s disco-pop song in mind. During the late-night writing process, in the still of the night, listening to the beat over and over again, Liz deliberately used mesmerizing lyrics, to go with a breathy delivery intended as a double entendre between the paralyzing melody of music that can plague our mind and that special someone who is totally hypnotizing.  

The music video for ‘Mesmerized’ was filmed in Los Angeles using a fisheye lens and 70’s backdrop of rich orange and browns.
