LUCA BIGOTE – DJ MIXES & LIVE RECORDINGS

Tiella Sound is a project born in 2019 from the mind of DJ and selector Luca Bigote that started as a radio show currently airing on the web waves of French LYL Radio, and now debuting in the record label ecosystem with its first official release.

The vision and mission of the entire project are quite clear and based on the principle of musical eclecticism. Luca Bigote, in fact, from the very beginning has never wanted to set boundaries to his creature, which, following an open-minded approach, flirts with the most disparate sounds, not exclusively club-oriented ones, focusing on the quality and research that have always distinguished his path.

For its first release, Tiella Sound has chosen Umbria-born DJ and producer Daniele Tomassini, already known for his records under the Feel Fly moniker, who presents us with the first LP from his alter ego VAISA. This work consists of unreleased tracks composed between 2014 and 2016, during the intense creative period that saw him involved in more experimental and alternative projects such as Palenque Pacal trio and Wunder Camera duo. This material finally sees the light, a few years after the inspiring live performance during the second edition of Esperimenti (January 2017), the music festival curated by Luca himself together with his friend and colleague Matteo Lieto in Gaeta, Italy.

VAISA is a dense, raw, evocative project. A lo-fi maelstrom made up of field recordings, sound collage, mysterious vocal samples from ancient cultures, obscure rhythms and layered tribal percussions, ambient clouds, dub echoes, with the martial tolling of the kick drum beating out the slow electronic ritual: a deep and timeless journey, ready to drive all the lovers of the most abstract and primitive sounds into ecstasy.

Following on from its inaugural release, Luca Bigote’s new label Tiella Sound announces a fresh LP from Neapolitan artist Livio Improta.

Tiella Sound is on a mission to blur the boundaries of electronic genres and provide something new and unique. Off the back of their long-standing radio show and guest mix series, Tiella Sound launched in 2023 with a self-titled LP from Perugian artist VAISA, setting the scene perfectly with its lo-fi maelstrom of field recordings, obscure rhythms and tribal textures. Livio Improta follows suit with ‘Fondamentalismi’, a 10-track exploration of broken, slow-motion rhythms coated in vinyl crackle and layers of atmospheric dust.

Livio Improta has landed on Bosconi Records and Rawax, had his tunes included on Fabric 71 mixed by Cassy, and explored ethnomusicology and experimentation under the name Baldovino. From Neapolitan wave to world music, Italo-disco to house, disco and funk, his sound is rich, unpredictable and varied, as he proves here with ‘Fondamentalismi’.

Opener 'Alpha' is a broken dub rhythm coated in lo-fi chords that makes for an atmospheric start before dubbed-out broken beats on 'Posidone' and the deep, glitchy analogue drums of '80123' immerse you in a world of hazy pads and dusty sounds. The title track is another brilliantly heady and sparse sound world where wispy pads float above warm bass and malfunctioning drum patterns before 'Comunicando' gets more physical but remains miles under the surface with its smeared melodic loops and jolting kicks.

'Cuma' layers up more prickly hi-hats and busted kicks with off-grid percussion and diffuse synth lines that glow like fireflies, while 'Intransigenza' suspends you in amongst muffled chords and lumpy rhythms that are heavy and off-balance. 'Ibis' layers up some gurgling acid and hallucinogenic synths with beatdown drums from Detroit, and 'Marechiaro' has an infectious dub house swing beneath soft focus melodies that are full of melancholy. 'Omega' shuts down with three minutes of knackered loops and heat-damaged synths topped with Italian spoken word vocals.

‘Fondamentalismi’ is another superb album that announces Tiella Sound as a vital new label.

Author, professor, party host, DJ and founder of Lucky Cloud Sound System, Tim Lawrence is internationally acclaimed for his knowledge about the NYC downtown music and party scene of the 1970s and 1980s, and in particular the influence of David Mancuso and his The Loft.

He shared what's behind his guestmix for Tiella Sound: "It's a session I was asked to record for a Mark Fisher tribute at the ICA in London. I tried to create a mix that would speak to Mark's sensibility as well as my own. Mark was into some sounds – more on the breakbeat/rave trip, that I wouldn't necessarily play at All Our Friends (the invite-only party he runs in London with Cyril Cornet, Jem Gilbert, Cedric Lassonde, ed.), but the mix came out reasonably well and I was quite pleased with the result. That event took place 30 January 2021".

Luc Sauvage and Michele Tessadri met in Berlin, that wasn’t difficult considering that at the time they were both regulars of the Berliner underground electronic scene.
With their previous projects they released original production/remixes and edits under various aliases on different labels such as Nang, Under The Shade, Slow Motion, Cliché Breaks and Passport To Paradise to name just a few.
The natural consequence was starting a joint production venture in which they could blend their influences and lay out dance-floor oriented music, which has been released on Slow Motion, Roam Recordings, Where Were We? and Pizzico Records among others and got enthusiastic feedback from deejays all around the world.

"Displaying an intent to never be pinned down by genres, his diverse sets are representative of all the experiences he accumulated over the years, that led him to share the dj booth with artists like Tornado Wallace, Patrice Scott, Fantastic Man, Rahaan and many more: a global journey into all the different shades of House music and beyond, Electronica ambience and some Organic Grooves — with a whimsical Balearic feel.

After being invited to contribute and showcase his strictly personal and eclectic music vision across several podcast channels and radio shows, he started curating his own mix series and in 2021 he kicked off a residency on Lyon-born web station LYL Radio with a show called “Tiella Sound”.
Since April 2019, he also runs an ambient-focused side-project called “Nostalgia Del Futuro” which is now a show on Milan-based platform Mondonero.

In the past, he also contributed for Italian music webzines such as Tsinoshi Bar and RITC - Roma In The Club, and acted as prime ambassador of Enzino's Records — a vinyl-only label supported by the likes of Axel Boman, Soul Clap, Wolf+Lamb, OYE Records, Phonica and where he released two edits back in 2017."

▌I What’s your history with music in general and DJ-ing especially?
I grew up in a family not very connected to music, but at some point that changed when my brother Benny started deejaying and introduced me to a lot of alternative music of the time, especially so called "French-Touch" house music.

▌II How would you describe your style?
Eclectic and open-minded. Fortunately, over the years I have come into contact with music of different genres and with artists involved in very different situations. I can easily select from ambient to techno, via house and organic grooves, and I can show my 'fluid' approach especially during DJ sets lasting several hours.
As Donato Dozzy said: "How I play as DJ is always variable. It all depends on the space and the people". I agree with this very much, it sums it all up pretty well.

▌III How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
When I started thinking about what to propose during this mix, I immediately felt the urge to propose something that would take me to one of those nights when I play peak-time in some dark, smoky, sweaty club, during that hour when I like to push a little harder than usual.

Nicola Loporchio, known as Nico Lahs, began producing house music in 2009 with releases like the 'Clouded Visions' EP on Josh Wink's 'Ovum Recordings'. His success led to DJ sets at top clubs worldwide, such as Cable, Club der Visionaere, and Tresor. He also launched the Cosmic Garden project and label, Cosmic Rhythm, focusing on house and disco.
In 2020, Nico released his debut album 'Freedom' on Adeen Records and three well-received EPs, including one on Jimpster's 'Delusions of Grandeur'. In 2022, he produced remixes for Alton Miller and released tracks on several notable labels, including Local Talk and Moods and Grooves.
With his high quality remixes, cosmic alias, and impressive club cuts on a host of stellar labels, Nico Lahs is proving himself to be an innovative force in the Italian house landscape.

Andrea Passenger is a passionate lover of all shades of black music with an uncommon sensitivity for particular and intense grooves. This led him to play around Italy, Europe, Japan and alongside luminaries such as Nicky Siano, Theo Parrish, and Gilles Peterson.
His productions and edits on Light Touches, Right Tempo, Dora Exp, Just What The World Needs, are favorites of DJ’s DJs like Mark Grusane, Red Greg, Cami Layé Okun and Darryn Jones.
He runs his own club night ‘Aquario’ inspired by the NYC rooted disco and house scene and the ‘Better Days’ events dedicated to explore the intersections between clubbing and community building.

Now a key figure in Chicago’s underground scene, he bridges generations, earning respect from house music pioneers.
Mentored by Peter Croce (Rocksteady Disco), Tommaso blends deep-rooted history with a forward-thinking approach, crafting immersive, genre-spanning sets. He has played alongside legends like Danilo Plessow (MCDE), Tony Humphries, Rahaan, Marcellus Pittman, Derrick Carter, and more, cementing his reputation as a DJ who uncovers hidden connections between records while respecting the soul of Chicago’s dance music heritage.
As co-founder of Elevator Music, he fosters emerging talent and pushes dance music’s boundaries. When not playing in Chicago, he tours across the U.S. and Europe, sharing his distinctive sound while honoring Chicago’s rich house music legacy and tradition.

She has performed at numerous festivals and clubs across Italy, including Jazz:Re:Found, Liguria Transatlantica, Fano Jazz, Gaeta Jazz, Apolide, Biko (Milan), Santeria Toscana (Milan), and Bunker (Turin), as well as at Spiritland in London.
In addition to her DJ sets, she has been a guest on renowned radio platforms such as Soho Radio, Worldwide FM, Radio Raheem, Radio Banda Larga, and Fritto FM, sharing her distinctive musical vision with a wider audience.

A passionate digger and vinyl collector, he's always on the hunt for new and old sounds to add to his arsenal. His DJ sets, strictly on vinyl, defy rigid genre labels while staying rooted in a deep black music influence.
Over the years, he’s brought his records to dancefloors across Italy and beyond, playing at venues like Meridian 23 in New York City, BC Club in Madrid, Tunel Terrace in Tirana, 93 Feet East in London, Bi Nuu in Berlin, and New Tekstil in Belgrade.

Over the years, they've shared the decks with names like Radio Slave, Desiree, Gerd Janson, Bradley Zero, Jackmaster, and many others.
Today, they're the co-founders of Grooveland, a party born from the local community and fueled by musical research, attitude, and sharing.

Lemi Shoya is a DJ and producer originally from Lecce, southern Italy. For several years, he has been cultivating a musical journey deeply connected to the underground sounds of Detroit and Chicago, genres that embody the essence of true club culture. His sets offer a refined blend, always focused on quality music and aimed at creating a genuine connection with the dancefloor.
In 2024, he launched Humanite, a project born from the desire to build a bridge between local roots and the global club scene. Each month, Humanite hosts international artists, curating intimate and engaging nights followed by a loyal and passionate community.

Following two bold releases that explored territories between experimental ambient, folktronica, and atmospheric lo-fi rhythms, Tiella Sound now confidently steps into the deeper and more authentic side of club culture. For its third chapter, it warmly welcomes Nasty Boy, an Italian DJ and producer whose analog-driven aesthetic and melodic sensibility naturally resonate with the deep-house history.

‘Don’t Leave’ is a six-track EP where Nasty Boy guides us through a dense, cohesive journey filled with subtle yet rich nuances. Rooted in the musical traditions of Chicago and Detroit, it draws inspiration from artists like Larry Heard, Carl Craig, and Kirk Degiorgio, as well as the best of Detroit and UK technological house. However, the outcome isn’t just a stylistic showcase or a nostalgic tribute. Instead, it shows a mature production vision, transforming these influences and references into a personal, unique, elegant, and unpredictable language that refreshes the deep-house narrative while staying true to its core.

A key element of the record is the prominent use of analog hardware, such as the Roland Super JX-10 and Korg Poly800 MKII, skillfully blended with digital synthesizers like the Elka EK44, Korg M1, and Yamaha DX7, as well as samplers such as the Akai MPC 2000XL and MPC One. This approach emphasizes a direct, tactile connection with the instruments, highlighting their unique quirks, timbres and personalities.
Much like a photographer who views their equipment as a vital part of their artistic identity, Nasty Boy embraces the physicality of his tools. And you can hear it clearly: the grooves breathe, the pads shift with micro-variations, and the drum patterns carry a physicality and gritty texture that are impossible to fully replicate.

The EP opens with the title track ‘Don’t Leave,’ which stands out as its brightest and most immediate track, a sun-soaked deep house piece built on melancholic pads that beautifully evoke the golden era, all while adding its own unique touch.
‘Slide Down’ moves on a deep, circular acid bassline with a Heard-like touch, evoking the hypnotic and urban mood of A Guy Called Gerald’s Trip City period. Here, Nasty Boy smoothly blends acid and deep atmospheres, as if creating a dialogue between Chicago and a futuristic Mancunian vision.
With ‘Can See This, the EP starts exploring more ethereal and rarefied territories: suspended pads, breezy rhythms and a punchy drum machine driving the track with a percussive, emotionally charged proto-techno energy.
The remaining tracks, including ‘Stay With Us’, a poetic and beautifully crafted deep-acid cut, and ‘Sensory Element’, whose rhythmic approach nods to classic NY deep house, round out a sonic palette that oscillates between introspection, groove, timbral exploration, and analog warmth, always crafted with a rare sense of balance and detail.

Don’t Leave is more than just an EP; it’s a heartfelt tribute to deep house, celebrating its roots, emotional essence and ongoing significance today. Nasty Boy doesn’t imitate or pay tribute: he reflects, absorbs, and transforms. In doing so, he delivers one of the most personal and mature works of his career.

Giuseppe Fava is an Italian DJ and producer whose sound weaves warmth, rhythm and atmosphere. His sets are a continuous exploration of contrast and emotion: from soulful vocals, vibrant percussion and dry, rolling house grooves, to structured psychedelic layers and hypnotic acid lines.
Since 2014, he has been crafting his own productions and collaborating at The Dub studio, co-founded by the late, legendary Claudio Coccoluto.
Resident DJ of Soul Express Collective, over the years, he has released his music on respected labels such as The Dub, Italo Deviance and Muja.

Tiella Sound is the reflection of Luca Bigote’s "fluid" music vision, where genres blend and boundaries fade away. Launched in 2019, the project encompasses a radio show, mix series and independent record label.

Luca Bigote is an Italian DJ and music curator with wide tastes across the music spectrum.
His sets are immersive journeys blending rarefied Soft Electronica, floating Downtempo beats, warm Organic Grooves and a rich array of House and Techno nuances. This versatile approach has led him to share  stages with influential artists such as Tornado Wallace, Fantastic Man, Tiger & Woods, Rahaan, and Patrice Scott among others. Remarkably, he delivered a highly acclaimed six-hour set at Buttons party in Berlin, one of the most iconic events within  the city’s LGBTQ+ nightlife scene.
Over the years, he has been invited to contribute to many radios and podcast channels from all over the world, including United We Stream (DE), HÖR (DE), Kiosk Radio (BE), Radio Raheem (IT), Rocket Radio (IT), Radio Panini (DK), Rhythmic Culture (NL), Amok Radio (MK) to name a few.
Since 2020, he has also been crafting ambient introspective soundscapes under his experimental alias, Nostalgia Del Futuro, expression of his interest for non-club oriented music.
In the past, he curated the ‘ritmo’ nights at Klunkerkranich in Berlin, hosted ‘FMUD’ summer parties in his hometown Gaeta (IT), and collaborated with renowned record stores such as OYE Records and Sound Metaphors.
