Raleigh, North Carolina's Book T initially rapped as Booker T and released a series of mixtapes under that name while studying for his bachelor’s degree at UNC-Pembroke. DJ Blaze Mixtape Vol.1 (2003), Scriptures (2005), and Best of BookT (2007) preceded his decision to shorten his stage name. Datbullshit, released in 2010, was the first Book T mixtape and fared well enough to enter R&B/Hip-Hop mixtape charts that April. A year later he released Datbullshit 2. His most recent mixtape Red Nose Reign (2013) has garnished major attention from music industry professionals. A 2012 concert with local artists found them dubbing him "Mr. Highly Educated," something BookT endorsed by creating the label Highly Educated Management and Production.
