this is my FRAI EDIT of a Shiloh track blended with Memphis rap vocals at 166 BPM. The track’s called “BABY” — and Shiloh has been one of my all-time favorite songwriters over the past decade, especially back in my college days.

The tune opens with a short DJ-scratch intro, then dives into a dark, punchy kick, bouncy bassline, and atmospheric tops layered with chopped vocal snippets. It rolls into a groovy sub-driven section that’s perfect for head-nodding, peak-time energy, or just vibing out late at night.

Hey Leute 👋,
hier kommt mein FRAI EDIT eines Shiloh-Tracks, gemixt mit Memphis-Rap-Vocals bei 166 BPM. Der Track heißt „BABY“ – und Shiloh gehört seit Jahren zu meinen absoluten Lieblings-Songwritern, besonders in meinen College-Zeiten.

Der Song startet mit einem kurzen DJ-Scratch-Intro, bevor er in einen dunklen, treibenden Kick, eine bouncige Bassline und atmosphärische Tops mit zerhackten Vocal-Snippets übergeht. Danach folgt ein grooviger Sub-Bass-Part, perfekt zum Kopfnicken, Dancefloor abreißen oder einfach nur Chillen und Viben.

L'Estaca DNB Riddim

The Queen of Croaks blesses us with one of her iconic edit mixes!

Where do we start, this mix is the definition of a journey. Zaba carefully curates hers sounds to create an audio novella soundscape exploring emotions and provoking thought to truly make you feel everything. If you're not familiar with Zaba's edits, our advice to you is to go in open minded! A lot of her sampling is subtle - so make sure to sit down with your headphones on and enjoy the journey of her English teacher-inspired style of creating.

Zaba is a multi-genre DJ from Oxford. As well as her unique edits/sampling series of storytelling mixes,  she is also the founder of the grassroots collectives Croakheads and Croakheads North. She is an outspoken activist for grassroots venues and has supported DJs in the scene such as Jam Thieves and Kara, as well as being upcoming support for Ed Solo and Deekline.

Zaba is always pushing herself to new creative boundaries/ideas. Her mixes are often political or literature-based in nature and she has gifted us a VIP special edition of her first ever Edits mix that she created. The original mix was created using hot cue layering of live samples and manual computer mouse-trimming on DDJ-200s and Rekordbox 6 - a feat she is ludicrously proud of; the limits of her tools never stopped her art. And for her year anniversary of her Zaba Edits projects, she chooses to recreate her mix of "1984" by George Orwell. 

Expect political activism, connection to art and several film samples as you navigate your way through the dystopic superstate of Oceania.
