D.O.P.E artist/ producer from Top City, KS by way of Dallas, TX. D.O.P.E is a lyrical beast when it comes to putting words together with inventive metaphors that go over your head where you might have to listen twice. At an early age being raised in a single parent household he took to hip hop as a place where to learn about life, streets, political stand points, his blackness and how to have a great time. From an area where not a lot of hip hop grew he honed his skills listening to anything from New York. He loved the styles, word play, lingo, and just the New York state of mind. Big Daddy Kane was a God like figure he learned how to put his thoughts in song form with a verbal abusive style that gave he notoriety in his city. After a short bid up state a month after his 18th birthday D.O.P.E(then MC Hitman), D.O.P.E decided he wanted to take hip hop serious and joined a group back home called DVs MINDZ.DVS Mindz was an underground rap music group from Topeka, Kansas that was active primarily from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s. The group's name stands for Dope Versatile Styles Manifested IN a Direction to Zucceed. The group's classic lineup consisted of four MCs: Str8jakkett, Killa The Hun, D.O.P.E., DL; and a DJ, Kutaculous. The group's sound was sparse, with raw beats and furious, nonstop rhyming from all members. While the group had very catchy material, many of its songs featured no chorus, just a sparse beat and verse after verse from the MCs. After 7 long years of trials and tribulations D.O.P.E. eventually left the group and began a solo career under the name D Dot. with a slightly more commercial sound (his management company felt that the name D.O.P.E. was not marketable). D.O.P.E. issued a mixtape, Live @ the BarberShop, and a full-length solo album, Dangerous On Paper & Etc.: The D.O.P.E. LP, was released in July, 2005. The album featured 17 tracks, 14 produced by D.O.P.E.> A followup, N.O.C.O.A.S.T., was released the next year. A single entitled "Someone 4 Me" was played on several radio stations across the country. D.O.P.E. also continued to work as a producer, including work on a large portion of Str8jakkett's Mood Swings album and other local artist. He was offered a major-label deal with Arista Records that fell through when the label folded. A lot of hard work that went unnoticed D.O.P.E decided to hang it up and move to Dallas Texas where he is living life to the fullest and still honing his god giving talent the privacy of his own house at his leisure. He is currently working on a couple of new projects The Babayka and Diatribe. The Babayka is a mixtape of an aggressive, dark lyrical onslaught attack partnered with production from, BVTMAN, KELSWITHTHEHEAT, LIVIN, and him self. Diatribe is an EP produced entirely by Epik The Don. This project is D.O.P.E's lyrical rant on a much more commercial vibe with melodies, nice hooks, but still lyrically heavy to showcase his style.
