Brazilian Daniel Oliveira has become a Proton regular over the last year with his DNYO production guise. A manager of Proton label Konstrukt (with Tim Penner) and a 2012 that saw him launch into the stratosphere of global recognition, produced an original remix of Exoplanet's "Your Sorrow Is My Despair" followed later in the year with the exceptional "Echo" EP. 2013 brought the full release of one half of that EP in the form of the "Roots", featuring deep underground remixes from Dousk and Sezer Uysal. With a much anticipated, brand new EP to be released under the cryptic "Future Blending" title, Proton is proud to announce the release of the second half of the "Echo" EP with "Fruits" remixes from two modern EDM goliaths, both also managers of hugely successful Proton labels in Replug and Somebody's Story. 

Henri Hurtig is a man that requires no introduction to followers of Proton in all its guises. Responsible for the commercial mastering and engineering of so many releases in the Proton and Particles catalogues, his technical skills are unrivalled. It is however, under his production alias, Cid Inc. that Henri is best known and a tongue in cheek reference to his passion for early acid house. Since being named as one of Beatport's Progressive House artists of 2009, the Cid Inc. production career has never looked back. With numerous fans including, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Henry Saiz for his work on Bedrock and Global Underground as Mashtronic and microcastle, Inkfish and Sudbeat as Cid Inc., over 300 Beatport production credits feature his name including almost 30 for his own Replug label, none better than the iconic "Cloudberries" in 2009. Applying his immaculate rhythmic sensibilities to "Fruits", Henri has added another glittering jewel to his crown. A ticking house groove kicks off proceeding under a pounding beat before the vowel sounding cuts from DNYO spiky original can be heard in the developing smooth flow of rhythm and bass. As this bass line gradually unfolds through opened filters, a series of synth effects and pads puncture the higher frequency range to further accent the dominant groove as building in intensity to a climax in the final movement. 

Russian, Igor Dyachenko, is another artist who has made the difficult transition to extremely successful label manager (via Somebody's Story) through artists such as Petar Dundov and Scotty.A, while simultaneously producing under the moniker Igor Cold with considerable aplomb. Proclivities centred around the spheres of 'atmospheric tech and progressive house' have provided Igor with support from Aeron Aether, Greg Benz and Sonic Union and works signed to Stripped Digital, DAR and Balkan Connection. Igor's work for Proton sister label, Particles, has also seen the release of the widely supported "Midnight Passenger" EP with remixes from Ioan Gamoa and Tuxedo. Turning his attentions to DNYO, the Igor Cold remix of "Fruits" once again makes exquisite use of the vocal pad textures of the original while applying a wonderfully melodic percussive groove through claves and wood block sounds to create an imaginative structure. A superb bass groove locks itself to the stuttering rhythm in the final movement to provide an approach and sound that is both innovative and impressive. 

A duo of remixes from Cid Inc. and Igor Cold have seen the "Fruits" of DNYO's labour blossomed from their very 'roots' into something truly exceptional.

The Konstrukt 006 (Extended) NYE Showdown Part 1

Right, so here it is, Tim's and mine, remix of "Timing", It blends some techno and prog house influences we both have, a good opportunity for us to try different sounds and to notice how fast we would actually have it done since Tim is all the way in the cold Canada and me in Rio, we actually finished it in 3 days so good timing.

Hi everyone, Danny here.

Recorded live at @ D.Edge in São Paulo, the night was set for some big sounds. After Andy Arias and Feemarx had the floor pumped, i took on for the next 2 and a half hours. I made diferent mixes for all of the music i was going to play that night, an assorment, or more a Techno Vs House affair.  These are some of the sounds from the 1st hour.

"Quiabo" or, "Okra" in plain English, is a techno gem I made in homage to my grandmother. She's very alive and kicking, a true example of strength to my family. She continues to show how powerful love transcends through her food by uniting us all in times where unity, seems to fail. 

Out of her many recipes, she has registered in my mind and many others, a taste, a flavor only she knows how to make it. Although impossible, I hope this tune translates a bit of how different and unique her food is.

From the bustling Sao Paulo metropolis, Daniel Oliveira's rise since 2010 has been meteoric. Better known by the hypocorism, DNYO, the Brazilian has graced the catalogues of microCastle, Replug and Flow Vinyl while also running his own Konstrukt imprint alongside Canadian, Tim Penner. First coming to the attention of Jay Epoch through his "Treatment" podcast for Proton Radio in 2011, 2012's conceptual "Echo" EP saw DNYO mark his debut for Proton Music with two sublimely intricate slices of progressive and deep house. Now, the deeply melodic jewel, "Roots" receives two remix treatments from the Balkans with partner track "Fruits" set to follow in the coming months.

Ioannis Ntsouskos, from his home in the west of Greece, has enjoyed a celebrated music career since making waves in the progressive scene with 2004's eponymously titled EP for John Digweed's Bedrock imprint. Since then a cascade of intricate rhythms and melodies have found their way to the likes of Plusquam, Movement and two full-length albums for Klik. A long association with Vapour has also provided a gamut of releases and remixes over an eight-year period. Dousk's long-awaited debut on Proton Music came with his recent remix of Tvardovsky's "Infinite" but now, returning to take on DNYO, Dousk perfectly demonstrates a suite of productions skills illustrating an intimate knowledge of what works in a club scenario. Providing clever echoes from the "Roots" original, Dousk has produced a seething, dark, rhythmic gem. A grooved bass line dominates proceedings, developing a symbiotic relationship with a driving kick drum and head-shaking rhythm section, linked by an invisible umbilical cord. Darkly twisted and pitched vocal cuts keep the intensity high as occasional effects and melodic motifs pepper the rhythmic phrasing. Dousk's remix illustrates a man at the summit of his production prowess.

Turkish native Sezer Uysal has an instinctive approach to the EDM creative process. Reaching the Top 100 of Beatport's progressive, deep and tech house charts has drawn attention to an individual who has since gone on to become an official remixer for the Ministry of Sound brand. Diverse support from Laidback Luke, Pete Tong and Hernan Cattaneo has stemmed from over 350 Beatport track credits for a whole host of labels including Balkan Connection, Particles and his own Dark Pleasure records. As part of the Proton VS series, recent remixes from Colourblock and Sonic Union & Pete McCarthey have also seen Sezer's "Section 5" take on a new lease of life. Remixing DNYO, Sezer Uysal's interpretation of "Roots" is aptly identified by its "3am" suffix. A strong beat twinned with a lazy rhythm and warm pads are allowed to take root before a low-slung bass rhythm locks itself into the accompanying groove, rising in intensity with effortless ease. A reverb-drenched female vocal treatment provides a final, perfect counterpoint to the fluid rhythms as it meanders across proceedings in all its organic glory.

The Balkan connection between Dousk and Sezer Uysal has provided strong "Roots" from which DNYO is sure to flourish still further.
