Mr. Oscar Mulero returns to Token in good company. At the beginning of 2013 he formed the ‘Spherical Coordinates’ project with Christian Wünsch.
After 2 widely acclaimed EP’s on Mulero’s Pole imprint, they now land on Token, with the ‘Vector Projection EP’, a new impressive 4-tracker.

Mulero & Wünsch join software and hardware to create a stellar EP that explores the deeper side of techno, on ‘SCFLS-05’ & ‘SCFLS-11’, but also hits back hard on the rolling ‘SCFLS-12’ & brutal ‘SCFLS-17’.

Space is the place.

Delinquent Delivery returns with the Saol Fórsa Ep, 2022’s first edition with a four track Various Artist Ep with tracks from Stuey Lyons & Jon Hussey, James Cherry, Stephen Mahoney and Snakbite_616. Precise, engaging rhythms and melancholic tones can be heard throughout the release as each track offers the dancefloor a fresh take on modern Techno.
A1 Jon Hussey & Stuey Lyons Saol Fórsa. Irish for ‘Life Force’, a title Jon Hussey has given the posthumous work that he completed after the untimely passing of our dear friend Stuey Lyons, label collaborator and DJ. Saol Fórsa sets the tone straight away, with whirling synths and syncopated rhythms that fly and soar throughout. The Hi Hats get the party started as it thunders along through filters while added FM synths penetrate. It is a party starter that is both a true and encompassing tribute to our friend and producer Stuey Lyons who will remain in our memory forever. We would like to thank also one of Stueys many music friends Tadeo for providing his analogue track summing which adds much warmth and fullness to the track.
A2 James Cherry - Double Down. Fans of Oscar Mulero will enjoy, new kind on the block, James Cherry. Fresh out of his studies in Sound Training Center in Dublin, James’ music is enigmatic, fresh and mature beyond his years. Double down gets off to a quick start with a groove that draws you in with synths and rhythms that grow and develop over the track, by the time you get to the break, carnage ensues, we need to say no more.
B1 Stephen Mahoney - The Hammer. The Hammer moves in the same vein as the A side of Saol Fórsa but is completely different in style. Prime-time dance-floor material, this track drives forward with ferocity and grace, hammering through with poignant congos and sub effects as it growls through with slight modulation. It slams.
B2 Snakebite_616. A firm favourite of many lineups in our fair city of Dublin, Snakebite_616 aka Nathan Jones, returns to Delinquent Delivery with a fever pitch production that will send any dancefloor into the galaxy! It is a smooth, fresh, fun, funky and slamming track, the perfect combo for any party starter.

This track is not only about making people bounce in a literal sense, although that is a major part of the inspiration behind it. This track is about overcoming difficult situations and bouncing back from setbacks with a courageous smile, knowing that the trials we're being put through are just that - trials. Even though it's hard to remember about that when trying to solve those riddles under so much pressure.

For me, music was always a tool for making these trials easier to handle, but at the same time it took me deeper and deeper into the uncomfortable yet unstoppable process of changing and reinventing myself. It taught me so many lessons about self-acceptance, perseverance, overcoming weaknesses, and finally sharing my gifts with others. And for sure it will keep on serving me this way in the foreseeable future 💫

Mamwadi - Isolated

The phrase "concept album" brings to mind long and complicated works by 60s rock bands or rap magna opera destined to be pored over by Dissect podcast. But what if the concept is based on a simple conceit? With Refreshing Part 1, their third EP and first vinyl release on Tresor, Fireground soundtrack an imaginary night spent at the Kraftwerk building on K&ouml;penicker Stra&szlig;e, moving between the smoke-filled basement of Tresor and the bass-heavy loft of Globus.

Opening piece, Never Sleep, has long been a feature of the Fireground live set and evolved over many months before reaching its final form in something of a "eureka" moment during a performance in Tresor. The track kicks off the EP with a hint to techno classic Knights of the Jaguar before quickly carving its own path through the foliage.

The tribal leitmotif continues on second track, Gaze, which again has subtle nods to classics whilst showcasing the duo's ability to bring new life to 90s house and techno tropes. 

Obsession dispenses with any pretence and gets right down to business from the opening second: Inspired by the Tresor dancefloor "when it reaches its peak; the strobe lights together with the smoke become so intense that for a few moments you can't see anything and completely abandon yourself to [your] sense of hearing." 
A counterpoint to the finessed Never Sleep, Obsession was recorded live with minimal post-production this track finds Fireground at their rawest and most uncompromising.

As if needing a spot of fresh air after the ferocity of Obsession, the second half of the EP leaves the dense and smoky atmosphere behind and ascends towards the sky beginning with Driving Stars; lighter though this may be there's no loss of drive.

Penultimate track Into a Diamond finds Fireground floating ever-upwards propelled by elements of jazz including a gorgeous electric piano solo that recall the airy mid-90s UK house of labels like Nuphonic, Heavenly, Faze Action, and Soma. 

Digital-only track, Wedding, closes the EP with the perfect end-of-night feeling, leaving us joyful, as if we are stepping out into the morning sun surrounded by close friends, the sounds of the evening orbiting our minds.

“Reflexions 2,” the sophomore sampler from Canadian label Echo Locations, once again showcases their commitment to highlighting the finest dub-inspired techno cuts from their own backyard and like-minded producers worldwide. The four tracks represent a fresh take on the genre, with each producer merging their own vision together with the sonic legacy of dance floors in their regions. 

Berlin resident and Sonntagsinstitut Collective founding member Black Mirror Park delivers the intensity that his city is known for with “Identity Theft.” German techno’s signature booming kick drum opens the track, setting the tone before a medley of synth stabs are gradually interwoven. The energy slowly builds up as snares and claps are added into the mix, creating a climactic sensation around a breakdown that delivers an interlude about digital identify theft. 

Angel Science captures the atmosphere of Alberta’s DIY raves with “Pellegrino,” a track that brings minimalism and subtlety together with a brisk tempo in the mid 140 bpm region. Strobing instrumentation and unwavering stripped-down percussion captures the sensation of intimate rooms where custom built sound systems guide packed floors. Layers of muted samples in the background tie everything together evoking images of a lush, digital forest.

NYCO blurs genre lines and crafts a techno anomaly with “Stellar.” Dubby chords wash over deep kicks and crisp hi-hats reminiscent of Detroit techno, creating an entirely unique offering that’s both entrancing and commanding on the dance floor. Clocking in at almost nine minutes long, this track is a hypnotic journey for selectors who like to let tracks breathe.

Another mainstay of Alberta’s DIY raves, Befaire pays homage to the foundational elements of dub techno with forward-thinking sound design on “Lost Time.” Dub techno’s signature fleeting chords are given a metallic texture, with each one sounding like warped mechanical signals. Heavy low-end frequencies create a deep underbrush of bass, making this a driving club track primed for big sub stacks.
