Jollanda has been busy with ILIAS from the very first moment. It is a rare project internationally, as the rehearsals took nine full months. It is her first time to be outside of Greece.
Holland is a great place to be: it is gloriously organized, technically perfect, the theater is very advanced, people are friendly and the audience warm. There are more Greek creators that worth to be seen abroad. It needs a lot of work

Interview - ILIAS - Jollanda Markopoulou: small producer involved in a vivid epos

Stahis is well known as one of the contemporary quality cultural creators in Greece. He has been to Holland before but neither to Amsterdam nor with his work. In the past he has been treating ancient material with MEDEA, which in Greece was not warmly welcomed. ILIAS is his revival and until now his hard work has given exceptional results.
Stathis finds it the right moment for Greece to export its high level cultural products, to Europe where ‘some of the people just pity us, others are just angry on us. In this way they may all discover that we are more than that’. His main target is to make great theater, he is not patriotically motivated but artistically. He enjoyed meeting some of the diaspora and did not know that he is writing history in Netherlands: this is the very first big Greek theater production to reach a main stream high level cultural outlet in the Netherlands.

Interview - ILIAS - Stathis Livathinos: contemporary Greek creator breaks through in the Netherlands

Alexandros has followed a long trajectory from economic studies in Greece, towards managing high level international artistic productions. Nowadays he is deeply involved in various cultural creations in many countries realizing his dream: an international cultural agency. His approach to human interaction in a cultural environment is that of personal involvement. He regularly follows himself the same demanding workshops as ‘his’  artists do. 
He has been several years in the Netherlands for studies and various small projects, had a jumpstart in Portugal with some of the greatest Portuguese artists and was then discovered in Greece by important theater and dance producers.  If you want to thank someone for having ILIAS in the Netherlands, it’s him. Alexandros will keep buffering worthwhile Greek artistic productions in the coming years.

On Saturday, April 18, we met Maria Elena Kyriakou, and the Greek team of this year's Eurovision, in Amsterdam.
After the small final of the Eurovision in Amsterdam’s Melkweg stage, Maria Elena Kyriakou was at the Santorini Greek Tavern, along with friends and fans that passed by to meet her and wish her good luck. She gave us an exclusive interview and described to us with enthusiasm the journey so far and the final way for the Eurovision semi-finals.

A sweet woman with great talent, accompanied by the multi-talented Efthyvoulou Theocharis, will rouse the crowds and will represent us in this year's Eurovision contest in Austria. The Semi-Finals are from May 1 to May 19 and the Grand Final will be on May 23. We are wishing her good luck already! Go Greece!

Πόσο εύκολα πήρε την απόφαση να αφήσει τη δουλειά της ως γραφίστρια στην πατρίδα και να ανοίξει διαφημιστικό γραφείο στην Ολλανδία μη γνωρίζοντας ούτε τη γλώσσα;  Πόσο διαφορετική είναι η νοοτροπία από χώρα σε χώρα για έναν μετανάστη και για ποιόν λόγο θα επέστρεφε στην "Ιθάκη" του;

Ελληνικές κοινότητες υπήρχαν αλλά σε διαφορετική μορφή από την σημερινή λόγω διαφορετικών αναγκών.

Interview του Γιάννη Αγγελάκα με τον Αλέξανδρο Κύρκο, για το iamgreek.nl. 

Ο Γιάννη Αγγελάκας στις 27 Νοεμβρίου 2016, θα επισκευτεί το Rotterdam με σκοπό να πραγματοποιήσει για την πρώτη του συναυλία στην Ολλανδία. 

Με αφορμή αυτό, μίλησε με τοiamgreek και παραχώρισε μία πολύ ειλικρινή και ενδιαφέρουσα συνέντευξη. 

Αναφέρθηκε στις μέρες που ήταν ακόμα μέλος στο θρυλικό συγκρότημα "Τρύπες", για τη σημερινή πορεία του αλλά και το πως βλέπει και αντιμετωπίζει το μαζικό φαίνομενο φυγής και διασποράς. 

Πάντα πραγματικός, πάντα ροκ και μέσα στο κλίμα, προετοιμάζεται για  αυτή την ευρωπαϊκή τουρ με ενθουσιασμό και αγάπη για τον κόσμο.

Its a Greek perspective about life in the Netherlands. Its crazy stories from old timers and new stories from new comers. Its about good food, its about fun events.

But what we really want it to be, is an online community and a great place to find information about all the things that concern our lives in the Netherlands.

--Who is making all this?
We are a small group of Greek expats that decided that we wanted to create an online community and an information portal about Greek expat life and the Netherlands.

This is our way of giving back to the people that helped us all when we got here.

--Why is it in English?
We decided to start the site in English as the main language because we wanted this site to be an international site that will also promote Greek expat life and activities here.

We do however have plans to add translation features and extra languages in the future.
