Saint-Petersburg based producer Jiminy Hop makes his debut on Hicky and Kalo's label Plaisirs Sonores Records with a timeless new EP called 'Parake'. The title track is a wonderful mix of organic drums, a groovy bassline, a fabulous cello line, and a magical flute that will hypnotize dancers.

The second track 'Didiza' follows the same path with some nifty drums, a groovy rhythm and a divine bassline. The piano melody is somewhat more gentle and the violins are beautiful.

Hicky and Kalo say: "We are super excited to welcome Jiminy to our label. We are big fan of his music, we played many of his tracks over the last few years. We were stunned when we listened to the tracks he sent us. We road-tested both track many times at Stereo Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The crowd reaction is always on point. Tash's Movement Recordings rounds out the month of July by welcoming Alfonso Muchacho to the label for a new EP. With a career that spans over a decade, the UK artist found his footing early on, showcasing his music via long standing imprints such as Bonzai Records and Beatfreak Recordings, while progressive music tastemakers such as Hernan Cattaneo quickly took a liking to his dance floor minded creations. 2019 marked Alfonso's Movement Recordings debut in the form of the well-received 'Stranger Danger' EP. A bond with the label was nurtured going forward, with the London resident returning in 2020 with a powerful remix of Forniva's 'Tinkerbell', before going on to deliver his second EP project 'Walk on Water' in April of this year. Now on the strength of a new single for his Above The Ground imprint, Alfonso returns to Movement with a three track showcase entitled 'Astral'.

Beginning with the title selection, Alfonso crafts a sleek framework of punchy beats and well carved grooves. Its rhythmic energy grows quickly, as waves of percussion, striking chord stabs and sweeping effects add drive across the first act. Cross cultural vocal fragments emerge, carrying emotive chord changes and wispy melodic structures into a break that is both tranquil and timely. The interlude builds tension masterfully, as vocal phrasing opens up against a wall of panoramic synths, eventually breaking off into a thumping finale.

Urmet K delivers a stirring update ideal for sunset sets, whilst Forty Cats takes her version into atmospheric and progressive house territory. 

Matthias Meyer said: “’Strangely Enough’ is an important track for me and the reason I started the label. Whilst everybody loved it, it didn’t fit on any labels. I wanted to have some new, playable versions for this summer. Guy Mantzur is one of my favourites and he really transformed it into an emotional banger. Amine K has been a good friend for around 10 years and his version is less straight, but has some wicked melodies. Urmet made a nice, deep and soft All Day I Dream kind of version. Forty Cats’s update is also really nice. It has more of a proggy vibe, which I like to play out too.”
