DEMO - James Reid - Brit Awards 2014 Chat

I'm James Reid. I'm 22 years old, I live in Salford and I'm really good at presenting radio shows! Don't believe me? Listen to the audio above and hear for yourself! 

Finally, after months and months of being distracted by the day job and pretending to be an adult, I have compiled a demo fit for public consumption! At least, I hope I have. Weighing in at 3 minutes and 39 seconds long, this demo hopefully showcases my abilities as a presenter, a storyteller and a bit of a comic too!

I am an energetic and light hearted presenter, that thrives on fast-paced live shows, audience interaction and a variety of music styles. I am looking for my break into the industry on a commercial level, after 7 years of experience on online, studnet and community stations.

KCC Live @ Sound City 2013 - Enter Shikari Interview

With8 years of experience in online radio and tonnes of experience in event management and promotion, at just 22 years old, James Reid already has a wealth of knowledge of the industry he thrives to do well in. With DJ experience at venues including The Syndicate Superclub in Blackpool, Alpine Ormskirk and Vodka Revolution in Lancaster, James has slowly built up a loyal fan base to accompany him along the way. 

In 2009, James made his biggest achievement to date, by being the youngest person to DJ and host a 16-19 student night at the The Syndicate Superclub in Blackpool, the U.K's BIGGEST nightclub, holding 3,000 people. The event was largely attended and enjoyed by all and gave James the oppertunity to create a thriving underage event brand for the young people of Blackpool. The brand was called PERFECTED and went on to host regular events at Club Sanuk, another popular nightclub in the seaside resort. The events turned over huge amounts of cash and were attended by 1,000 students on average. The events became so successful that Guest DJs from the area where fighting for slots on the bill. Since then James has moved to uni at Edge Hill in Ormskirk and brought his music with him. He now holds a residency at Alpine Ormskirk with fellow DJ Jason Matthews on Thursday nights and supports DJs at various other events in the Merseyside area on a regular basis.

Aside from DJing and running greatly successful events, James also likes to present radio shows and has built up a large amount of experience in both online and student radio stations. Back in February 2011, James set out to give Edge Hill University it's own student radio station and just 7 months on, in September, L:39 Radio launched, in association with Edge Hill Students Union. It's the first student radio at EHU since the 1950s and already boasts a team of 60 students, 1,000 likes on Facebook and a thriving and constantly expanding listener base. James stepped down from his position as Station Manager to pursue other interests, but will always be known as the Station Founder (literally building the station bit by bit from scratch) and still regularly presents shows on the station. James has also worked on similar projects at his previous places of education, Blackpool Sixth Form College and Palatine High School.

So what's next for James Reid? Well, lots of things hopefully. His new radio show launches in 2012, as does his shiny new website that will hopefully show of all his media work to date and act as a portfolio and a platform onto bigger and better gigs and projects. James is constantly pursuing his dream to host his own nights at some major clubs and to DJ on FM stations and will keep pushing to make that dream a reality.
