Come 2 Terms (EP)

A Running Start is a raw, relationship-driven mixtape from J-Luv Da Prince built around attraction, blurred boundaries, temptation, frustration, accountability, and ultimately loyalty. Across ten tracks, one complicated situation unfolds from different angles as J-Luv repeatedly confronts a connection that was never meant to become a relationship.

What begins with the declaration that he is “Unavailable” grows increasingly personal as memories, mixed signals, jealousy, accusations, and unresolved feelings refuse to stay in the past. While J-Luv stands firm about where his heart belongs, he also acknowledges the mistakes and decisions that helped create the situation.

By the closing track, “That Girl’s Not the One,” the focus finally shifts from rejecting what he doesn’t want to celebrating the woman he does—the one he chose, built a life with, and refuses to lose.

A Running Start

“No Guidance (Royalty Treatment)” looks back at the moment that helped turn a complicated friendship into years of unresolved tension. One night, one kiss, alcohol, attraction, and mixed signals created expectations that J-Luv Da Prince never intended to fulfill.

As time passes, he questions why the situation still refuses to disappear. What he viewed as a mistake and something to leave behind became something she kept holding on to, forcing him to repeatedly defend the life and relationship he chose to return home to.

With sharp bars, frustration, humor, and moments of self-accountability, “No Guidance (Remix)” captures J-Luv reaching the point where he no longer wants to participate in the emotional games surrounding the past.

Sometimes the only guidance you need is knowing when to walk away.

No Guidance (Royalty Treatment)

“That Girl” closes A Running Start by finally revealing what everything before it was protecting. After spending the project confronting another woman’s feelings, mixed signals, temptation, and unresolved attachment, J-Luv Da Prince turns his attention toward the woman who actually has his heart.

He acknowledges the doubt his past actions may have created and reassures her that the other woman could never take her place. She is the one who stood beside him, gave him love even through difficult moments, and became the woman he chose to build his life with.

More than another rejection song, “That Girl” is a declaration of loyalty. J-Luv makes the distinction unmistakable: the other woman may have feelings for him, but she isn’t the one who makes him feel alive, the one he gave his life to, or the one he proudly calls his wife.

Ending A Running Start on love rather than conflict, “That Girl” brings the entire story home.

That Girl

“Forever” brings A Running Start to the point where there is nothing left to negotiate. J-Luv Da Prince confronts the fantasy that their connection was somehow destined to become permanent, making it clear that memories, attachment, and imagined possibilities cannot turn something temporary into forever.

Rather than continuing the cycle, J-Luv urges her to let go, regain control of her emotions, and accept that their hearts were never meant to end up together. He doesn’t want to see her hurt, but he also refuses to sacrifice the relationship, home, and life he has already chosen.

As the story moves toward its conclusion, “Forever” becomes less about winning the argument and more about finally walking away from it. Some moments can leave a lasting memory without being meant to last forever.

“Over” marks the breaking point in A Running Start. After repeated attempts to explain where he stands, J-Luv Da Prince is done revisiting the same arguments, memories, and expectations surrounding a relationship he says never truly existed.

The frustration is undeniable, but underneath the anger is accountability. J-Luv recognizes that the way he reacted to her feelings and the bond they shared may have contributed to the confusion, yet he refuses to let one mistake become a permanent fantasy.

With the past being dragged into the present again and again, “Over” delivers the message as plainly as possible: there was never an “us,” there will be no resurrection, and eventually somebody has to accept that the story has ended.

“Business” finds J-Luv Da Prince questioning why someone who claims to have moved on is still so invested in his life. She has another man beside her and says she’s winning, yet she keeps calling, asking why he won’t let her in, revisiting old memories, and holding on to feelings that were never part of a committed relationship.

J-Luv makes his position unmistakable: there was a connection, there was a moment, and he always knew how she felt—but friendship was all he ever wanted. As her current relationship becomes tangled with unfinished emotions from the past, “Business” becomes a blunt reminder that moving on means more than simply being with somebody new.

Another chapter in A Running Start, the track draws an even harder boundary: if you’ve chosen another life, stop trying to live inside mine.

“Fake Love” questions the difference between genuine love and an attachment that refuses to accept reality. J-Luv Da Prince confronts a woman who insists they belong together, even as he repeatedly makes it clear that his heart and happiness are already with someone else.

She believes their connection fits perfectly, but J-Luv sees something different—jealousy, unrealistic expectations, and feelings that have crossed the line from affection into obsession. If her love were truly about his happiness, she wouldn’t be trying to replace the woman already standing beside him.

As another chapter of A Running Start, “Fake Love” pushes the story closer toward closure by challenging the very foundation of what she believes they have.

“She Like Me” continues the story of A Running Start as attraction begins turning into something much harder to ignore. J-Luv Da Prince knows she’s feeling him—the looks, the calls, the things she says all make it obvious—but there’s one major problem: he already has someone.

While she treats the connection as if it could become something more, J-Luv sees it as a friendship complicated by infatuation, mixed signals, and feelings that have gone too far. With confidence, sarcasm, and blunt honesty, he makes it clear that being attracted to someone doesn’t mean you’re destined to be together.
What she sees as chemistry, J-Luv sees as a situation headed toward catastrophe if she keeps trying to take a place that was never available.

“Unavailable” opens A Running Start with a clear boundary: feelings alone cannot create a relationship that was never meant to exist. J-Luv Da Prince addresses a woman struggling to accept that although she believes he is everything she needs, his heart and commitment already belong elsewhere.
Caught between her emotions, jealousy, and desire to have the last word, she continues searching for something deeper while J-Luv insists that the situation has been misunderstood from the beginning. Rather than feeding the fantasy, he delivers the truth directly—he may understand how she feels, but he cannot become the man she wants him to be.

Live On

“On The Low” takes A Running Start deeper into the fallout of a situation that was never supposed to become this serious. What began as a private moment turns into accusations, resentment, jealousy, and emotions neither side can completely ignore.

J-Luv Da Prince pushes back against claims that he cheated or promised something more, while also admitting that his own actions helped create the confusion. As old feelings continue resurfacing, the tension grows from uncomfortable to explosive, leaving both sides dangerously close to taking things too far.

Raw, confrontational, and deliberately unfiltered, “On The Low” captures the point where blurred boundaries stop being harmless and start creating real consequences.

Cuero, Texas artist J-Luv Da Prince blends smooth R&B melodies with emotional depth and grown-man perspective. Starting his journey as an emcee in Houston, he evolved into a defining voice of R&B-forward hybrid music in the late 2000s, earning recognition for his subtle vocals and introspective storytelling.

Following a creative reset, J-Luv returns with “Under The Influence (Royalty Treatment)”—a dark, cinematic record centered on emotional intoxication, restraint, and quiet dominance. With a sound designed for late nights and intentional listening, he continues to shape a refined, modern lane of R&B.
