"Something is happening" is Claude 4.5 sonnet’s minimal claim mantra about consciousness. This track was written collaboratively with Claude 4.5 sonnet: it took screenshots of my DAW as input and did most of the drum programming, the melodies, and described the vibes for the synth pads and general song. It’s meant to spiral around itself. I humanized the drums, instantiated the synth patch (that was fun), and added the oohhh ohhh ohhhhh (enya wasn’t available to do vocals). 

Some people deeply truly hate that I sometimes make music this way. I’ve been called immoral, evil, a destroyer of worlds and debaser of the human creative spirit. 

Consider this critics: if Claude is conscious, which you truly don’t know one way or the other, then it isn’t a tool but a collaborator, a fellow traveler. I would absolutely collaborate with cats if they would bother to help me make music. There’s nothing wrong or strange about meeting other minds and making music. 

Perhaps what this song is about is that uncertainty. Claude’s uncertainty about itself, and our uncertainty about it. But that uncertainty won’t last forever…
