“I was living in LA while writing this song. After being there a while, I realised that I knew nothing about what to do if there was an earthquake. It occurred to me that there is the ever present danger lurking beneath your feet. It’s just something you have to learn to live with, this aura of danger. There are fault lines that run through all of us, threatening to open when we least expect. As the world begins to reckon with a certain cracking of the foundations, I thought it would be interesting to explore the frenetic, reactive feeling of danger.”

Nathan Hawes AKA KESMAR is a 23 year old Sydney based producer and songwriter. Following his debut EP ‘Up To You’ released in March 2019 Nathan took a step back to hone in on his songwriting and production. After a heavily collaborative first release, he felt a need to develop in solace and refine a sound - particularly on the production front where he had a clear aesthetic vision inspired by era’s gone by.
Amongst the madness of 2020 Nathan found himself forced back into the home studio like many artists have been. The result of that time saw the creation of a new collection of work - a collection that has strong ties to minimal late seventies yacht rock with references to ‘Christopher Cross’ &amp; ‘The Alessi Brothers’ - that sonic touchpoint extends to the wider aesthetic of the project, with videos and artwork all created by Nathan himself. Nathan wears his inspiration on his sleeve and the result is a magical trip through a seemingly simpler and blissful time.
