Louis La Roche releases the disco funk odyssey ‘One Big Gay Disco’ – a perfect homage to the open-minded ‘70s club scene, with a glittering, nostalgic video.

‘One Big Gay Disco’ could easily have lit up the iconic dancefloors of Studio 54, The Loft and Paradise Garage. Complete with the swirling strings and hypnotic beats which hark back to feel-good disco classics. The track sees Louis La Roche reposition hate speech and turn it into an uplifting celebration of house & disco music, and an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community.

‘One Big Gay Disco’ is taken from Louis La Roche’s fourth studio album, ‘We’re Not So Different’, released on Ever After Records on 29 October.

I love '17 Days', it's one of my favourite Prince songs. The 1983 live performance version that's on the album 'Piano & A Microphone 1983' is so utterly beautiful. It's just Prince and a piano, no band. I'd say it's possibly better than the studio version. I wanted to create a version I could play in my DJ sets, as his vocal is just so perfect.

I know there's been a couple of other bootleg remixes over the years but I've always felt they've lacked the groove that a Prince song deserves.

'Gone' is the second single taken from the upcoming 5th studio album by UK producer and songwriter Louis La Roche.

This follows the first single 'Some Way' featured on NewRetroWave released back in August.

Taking influence from both Jam & Lewis and Scritti Politti, 'Gone' is a classic slice of Synth-Pop straight out of the 80's. Complete with heavy reverbed drums, pretty synths, soft vocals and of course a sax solo!

Limiting himself to synthesisers and techniques used in the 1980's, Louis set out to create a Modern Pop album, using only vintage sounds. The result is a beautifully nostalgic, soundscape journey, fused with contemporary songwriting. Lyrically the album explores 'hard truths' within relationships as it's core concept, set to the soft, rich and warm tones from the albums sound palette. 'The Broken One' is the final single from the forthcoming fifth Louis La Roche album 'Admittedly'. 

It's a collaboration between Brett Ewels (Louis La Roche), Maddy Abela (songwriter for 49th & Main, Rules) and Ashley Alisha (songwriter for ITZY, LOONA, Oh My Girl). Co-written by Ewels and Abela, the song was influenced by the Italo Disco sound of the 1980's and the modern Synth-Pop/Dream-Pop/Disco Pop sound.

Louis La Roche returns with ‘All I Had’, the first single to be taken from his stunning new album, ‘Sleepless Nights’.

All I Had is a dark, infectious, Nu Disco stomper. With a hypnotic bassline, detuned synths and haunting vocals, the track combines new and 80’s nostalgic sounds. It’s unmistakably a Louis La Roche song, euphoric yet melancholic. Recorded and Produced by Brett Ewels, the track perfectly showcases Ewels’ undeniable song-writing prowess and flair for a hook.

His hugely anticipated new album, ‘Sleepless Nights’ retains the funky, rich, catchy songwriting of its predecessor ‘To Rest Is To Rust’, but pushes Louis’ unique sound in exciting new directions. Lyrically, too, it’s a darker tone. “If the first album was about romance, break-ups and relationships” Brett explains, “This album is it’s dark successor. My vocals are more manipulated, basslines are more aggressive and everything is so much more atmospheric, almost cinematic”

Louis La Roche - Back To You (Luxar Brooklyn Dub)

When I first heard the original, the way in which the vocal were delivered reminded me more of a mid 80's Kate Bush record than a modern Pop record. So that's what I tried to do here. It ended up being more Nu Disco/Synthwave in the end, but I think it makes for a nice 'alternative' version of the original, keeping the same chords but changing the direction.
