I love how a song can be inspired by one person and the more you play it, the more universal it becomes. This song is an ode to all of us. The inner joy and peace we all deserve, that can still be present despite the ebbs and flows of life.

Here On Out

This song pays homage to a remarkable musician I met back in 2011 in San Francisco. I briefly sub-letted a room in a warehouse he lived in after a life changing solo trip to Burning Man. We wrote a song that evening and many after that. He taught me how to write, how to listen, how to record, how to find my expression through music. I am still the biggest fan of his ‘sound’, hence the title of the song. I hope he reads this one day and knows the impact him and his music had on my life. Thank you H.

Darlin' We're The Same

A re-recording of the single to my previous album ‘Lands’. This song essentially came out of a sunrise jam on top of a pirate ship in the Nevada Desert, improvising for hours with a full psychedelic band. The truly life-changing moment I discovered my voice as a musician. The song has grown since its first recording and playing it with a band, so I felt it needed to be here as thread running through my sound.

Unconscious Rituals

Back in the winter of 2016, I packed up my life and drove across Europe in my Grandad’s old car. A pilgrimage of sorts, to the place where so many artists had been before. I fell in love. I fell in love with the freedom and the commitment to that freedom Berlin holds, the ageless, timeless abandon. I became a night creature, along with all of the other searching souls, losing myself in the dark techno clubs, walking home as the sun came up. This song is a homage to Berlin, with all the gifts it has given to people like me, who have had the luck to walk its streets and find inner parts of themselves they didn’t know existed.

‘We Wanna Be There’ came out of a deep connection with a fellow musician. It speaks of our desire to escape the world, as our bed becomes a spaceship and rockets us into the outer reaches of the universe. It’s about the out of this world feeling you can have with another person, “out where the stars burn”, losing our way “on the other side”.
