When I had the chance to be in a room with two talented writers like Lindsey Lee and Stephanie Smith (look them up, you won't be disappointed) I knew I was not going to squander my opportunity to have that confessional, spill-your-guts-out session that I knew I could have with these women. And, as expected, they delivered.

I had gotten out of a relationship that was very meaningful and full of love, but certainly not perfect. There were many things about me that changed, for the better mostly, during our relationship. However, I knew there was so much about me that was being suppressed during that relationship. This song is about how eventually I allowed my love of self to help me come to the conclusion that I needed to make a change. There was no black and white moment that told me, which made that decision harder and even made me feel a little guilty at times.

In "Love Me More" we wanted to portray the more realistic aftermath of what I was dealing with post-breakup which doesn't always mean endless nights out with your girlfriends and telling off your ex. I want people to hear this song and realize that without loving yourself, it's impossible to fully love others.

Life's full of broken things like hearts, homes and dreams. We all come from something broken.

Right now there are so many divisive forces that can pull us apart, but only if we let them. Regardless of where a person comes from or what he's been through, that person has had his own personal struggles that only he knows. 

Every time I sing this song in front of an audience, I think about a few of the things that led me to that point. Not all the memories and steps taken to get there are ones that I think back on fondly, but I do look back on them with pride knowing that those moments are part of my story. 

I can get a little overwhelmed at the thought of that group of strangers in front of me becoming reminded of their own struggles because of this song and I hope that they acknowledge those things that make them broken and feel that same ownership and pride for those moments. That's my hope with this song. 

Broken can be beautiful, especially when you are fully realized by others who love those flaws and cracks that make you that way. This song is about laying it bare and exposing those things that make us who we are so I wanted the production to mimic that. It's simple and real and not overdone.
