Born and bred in London, Anjunabeats started life as a university project in the year 2000. Today, Anjunabeats is one of the world’s best-loved dance labels. Over 700 releases spanning two decades wear the iconic Anjuna ‘A’.

Summer 2021 sees an eclectic selection of house and techno producers take centre stage, reworking nine Above & Beyond hits. ‘The Deep Mixes’ compilation features remixes of singles from Above & Beyond’s debut album ‘Tri-State’, as well as remixes of vocal anthems from their renowned 'Group Therapy’ and ‘We Are All We Need’ albums.

On July 1, Anjunadeep regulars M.O.S. deliver the third single from 'The Deep Mixes’ compilation: an organic house remix of Above & Beyond’s “Prelude”, an emotive fan-favourite pulled from the trio’s acclaimed second studio album, ‘Group Therapy.'

Releasing on labels such as All Day I Dream, Shanti Radio Moscow, Kindisch and their own imprint ‘Melody Of the Soul’, the trio have been supported by Jason Bentley at KCRW, Marsh, Lee Burridge, and Eelke Klein. 

The M.O.S. Remix of Above & Beyond’s ‘Prelude’ was debuted in Tony McGuinness’ Anjunadeep Edition 319 mix last year. On 24 July, the extended mix was included in the 20 Years Of Anjunabeats: The Deep Mixes compilation, exclusively on Beatport. Now, the remix is available in full across all streaming platforms.

Over the last two decades, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats label has launched the careers of some of the most respected names in electronic music: Andrew Bayer, ARTY, Audien, ilan Bluestone, Seven Lions and Mat Zo, to name just a few. In January 2021, the label launched Anjunabeats Rising: a new EP series highlighting the next generation of producers and championing emerging artists from around the world.

Oësha & Almero, Dokho and Paul Arcane feature on the latest edition in the series, Anjunabeats Rising Volume 7.

‘Desire’ is the debut release from Oësha, aka Maurice van der Molen. As one half of Magnificence, he’s been supported by Swedish House Mafia, Tiësto, Alesso, and many more. The Oësha project sees van der Molen step out on an exciting new stage of his career. ‘Desire’ sees Oësha join forces with French producer Almero, who has landed previous releases on Revealed Recordings, Label X and Arise Records. 

Dokho is the new melodic house alias from Belgian producer Fast Distance. Under his original moniker, Fast Distance has received support from Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and Above & Beyond, who have featured his releases on Group Therapy Radio. He makes his Anjunabeats debut with ‘Journey’, following an EP on Colorize earlier in 2021.

Rounding the latest Anjunabeats Rising EP is Paul Arcane. Paul is a producer who has been in our orbit for several years - he provided a Guest Mix for Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Radio in 2018. It’s a pleasure to welcome him onto the label with ‘Sisu’.

Berlin based producer and live artist Ben Böhmer has risen through the Anjunadeep ranks to become a breakout star of the past 18 months, amassing almost 40 million streams, picking up BBC Radio 1 support from Annie Mac and Pete Tong, including an ‘Essential New Tune’, and being featured in Billboard’s ‘Ones To Watch’. 

In addition to running his own fledgling label Tön Töpferei, Ben has put out singles on Anjunadeep and acclaimed remixes for Monolink and Jan Blomqvist, both of whom now feature on Ben’s debut LP.

Ben’s early releases on tastemaker labels Bade and Keller drew comparison to revered producers Recondite and Francesco Tristano - dark tracks dotted with classical influence, featuring haunting piano lines and discordant strings. Not long afterwards, Ben lost a close family member, and both his life and his music changed course. 

Whilst overcoming this loss, Ben found solace in music. 

The moody and reflective sounds of Ben’s early work made way for brighter and more melodic music, keeping the depth and texture, but changing the tone from darkness to light. Finding a sense of hope and optimism in uplifting emotions and euphoric melodies, Ben's debut album ‘Breathing’ marks the closing of a chapter in Ben’s life, the culmination of a period of heartache and recovery, and a coming of age as an artist.  

Opening track ‘In Memoriam’ is an emotive tribute, blending powerful strings with stirring vocal samples. Title track and lead single ‘Breathing’ with collaborators Nils Hoffmann and Malou follows. A long-awaited highlight in Ben’s live shows over the past year, 'Breathing' layers Malou’s delicate voice above swung percussion and hard-hitting synths.

An avid collaborator, Ben is also joined on the album by two further breakout German stars, vocalist Monolink who features on ‘Black Hole’ and multi-instrumentalist Jan Blomqvist who lends his vocals to ‘Decade’. 

Through the album Ben explores a range of emotions, from the hopeful ‘Hunting’ with Jonah, to energetic instrumental ‘Maelstrom’ through to the hard-hitting ‘Wall Of Strings, which samples The Cinematic Orchestra. 

Following the release of the album in November, Ben will be taking his live show on an extensive world tour - dates and information to be revealed in the coming months.

‘Breathing’ is available to pre-order now, digitally, on CD and on limited edition 2x12” white vinyl, due for release 22 November 2019.
